That is what I used before and wanted to switch off. Here is the 2 main
reasons:
1) It add extra header overhead similar to: Received by localost at
time, etc....)
2) It put emails in local delivery queue so syncing becomes slow.

BUG report: dbox movealt doesn't move reverse (to default location)
Hi,
Here is the problem that occured:
#sudo doveadm -D altmove -u vv at vito.pp.ua all
works properly and moves all storage to alt dir.
However, to move it back to default storage I add '-r' by manual:
#sudo doveadm -D altmove -u vv at vito.pp.ua -r all
That seems behave like the original command ignoring '-r'.
my dovecot conf:
# 2.3.4.1 (f79e8e7e4): /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf

Version controlled (git) Maildir generated by Dovecot
Thank you Vitalii.
Could you please tell me / do you know if those dovecot* files have to be also backed / archived?
Kind regards,
Adam

Doveadm Backup (other) issues
Hello,
I also have issues using Dovecot Backup.
I am trying to Backup (or possibly Sync - one way) a single user IMAP
account from a remote server, unknown type, to my own server.
For that purpose, I defined the following parameters :
imapc_host = <host name>
imapc_user = <user name>
imapc_password = <password>
imapc_features = rfc822.size
(<user name> has format:

How to manage email with an ISP restricted mailbox size?
Sorry if this is a bit off topic but I'm hoping list members here might
have some ideas.
Aim: use ISP provided email with restricted inbox size but keep an IMAP
accessible archive of emails (including 'sent' messages) on a remote server.
Scenario:
- Don't want to run my own SMTP server
- Have free ISP email with 1Gb mailbox limit and spam filtering that works
well
- Have remote

what dovecot version is this? I think there was bug around this in some version.

gmail-migration: archived mails in \ALL
Hi,
I don't completly understand
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Migration/Gmail
I can't find the documentation for the -a and the -F Flag.
I'd like to migrate ONLY archived mails from an existing gmail-Account.
So I'd have to import all Mails from the \ALL-Folder that does NOT have
any virtual folder flags set.
I tried to use this command:
doveadm -D -o imapc_user=user at

Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Hi,
No, I tried fetching over imapc too exactly as you suggested.
In my case it was not from cyrus, but from CriticalPath.
isync was finally able to do the job, preserving flags and doing UIDs
mapping. The most boring part was generating proper config file for
thousands of accounts.
A working imapc/dsync would have been better.
Emmanuel.

doveadm backup from gmail with imapc
I am trying to backup a gmail account (not the one I am writing from)
to dovecot, using doveadm-backup and imapc, but am having ssl
connection problems.

I've recently migrated a server with imapsync with 150Gb of email and 200+ accounts. I found the trick with this was the run imapsync in several runs: Messages older than 1 year; messages older than 6 months; messages

Looking for a guide to collect all e-mail from the ISP mail server
> 2. install and configure OfflineIMAP to synchronize the IMAP folders between your ISP IMAP server and your Dovecot server; see for example

OfflineIMAP is not the way to go. Many ISPs have very low size limits for the mailbox sizes. The one I am looking at right now does have this problem
(unless you pay extra).
From what I have
