A question on modelling binary response data using factors
Dear all,
A question on modelling proportional data in R. I have a test experiment
that was designed in a particular way, and which I can analyse "by hand" to
an extent. I am really struggling to get R to give me sensible results in
modelling it "properly", so must be doing something wrong here.
As background, I conduct a series of experiments and count the

Unless google pays you to train your software to mark their messages as

My solution would solve the problem others create (see the other mail).
Your solution wastes your time and will always be carrying water to the

getting the by() function to work properly
Hola everyone,
Solving this issue would be a huge time saver for analyzing my thesis data, so I'll try to be as concise as possible and hope that someone can give me a hand.
I am trying to run a function that I created, which works fine until I try to use it with the by function. That function is listed at the bottom (f3) just in case that might be the issue. Essentially I have compiled a

perl-Net-SCP on Centos 7
Hi All,
My new server is now built and I'm rebuilding the various services. Falling
at the first hurdle, my xinetd.conf service requrires perl-Net-SCP which
doesn't appear to be available on C7.
I could install CPAN and install it that way, but obviously I'd rather try to
keep to RPM's if I can. I've tried Google, but not really come up with a
solution I'm happy

dovecot2: authcache statistics
Hello,
setting auth_cache_size to nonzero enables caching of authentication data.
The cache hitrate may be logged by sending SIGUSR2 to dovecot/auth process.
Is it possible that dovecot logs statistics on regular intervals ?
( like http://www.postfix.org/postconf.5.html#anvil_status_update_time )

On Swat, it's easier. =
I use Swat from my win98 box. When I write a share comment with some chara=

When I read my smb.conf file, I noticed that for example a cp1252 characte=

difficulies with boxplot
Dear list,
sorry for bothering you with a probably simple question... I searched
the archive but couldn't find the right answer.
I have computed upper and lower bounds of a region and would like to
plot them in a boxplot. My problem is now to get the two boxplots in the
same graphic so that the boxplot of the upper bounds is directly on top
of the boxplot of the lower bounds. The reason I

loop causes syntax error in print()
I am having trouble printing a table out to the GUI display when the
table is created and printed within a loop.
I get a "Error: syntax error message"
If I comment out the print statement, the loop runs fine and I can print
out the last iteration of the table.

Samba AD Setup report (success)
Hi Samba-Team,
you wrote that you'd like to hear from users, so here I go ...:
I was just following your samba wiki on how to implement a new AD domain on an open Suse 12.3 using the Sernet rpm.
The documents are very precise, easy to understand and follow. Especially, the example makes it easy to understand.
Two things that I have/had a little difficulties with:
1) In your example,

Font confusion
In my attempts to get Fractal Mapper
(http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=3117) to work I am a bit
confused about the behaviour of text and fonts.
The application's documentation says you should be able to use any
TrueType fonts. I see a menu with the fonts I have on the system. If
I select one of them and enter some text I see the text as I enter it,
but when I finish it disappears.

nlminb( ) : one compartment open PK model
All,
I have been able to successfully use the optim( ) function with
"L-BFGS-B" to find reasonable parameters for a one-compartment
open pharmacokinetic model. My loss function in this case was
squared error, and I made no assumptions about the distribution
of the plasma values. The model appeared to fit pretty well.
Out of curiosity, I decided to try to use nlminb( ) applied to
