Domains on different IPs
I want to supply separate Letsencrypt certificates for each virtual domain
and seeing that SNI does not work I need to allocate separate IPs. Could
anyone give some pointers, or keywords to search for, on...
a) how to make dovecot listen for different domains on different IPs?
b) how to configure separate SSL certs for each of these IPs?

What? I?ve never seen SSL/StARTTLS on port 143,a dn I doubt that would work?

Send SPF SoftFails to Junk
Hello Dovecot gurus,
I've set up SPF checking on my postfix gateway and have confirmed that messages from domains set with hard fails that don't come from a good sender are rejected outright. Messages from domains set with a softfail that come from bad sources are tagged in the message header with "Softfail (domain owner discourages use of this host)", but end up in the

Seive + Spamprobe terminates with signal 6
Ubuntu 20.04, Dovecot 2.3.7.2, SpamProbe v1.4d. For the past weeks my
sieve filters that call spamprobe have been crashing out for some users.
I have a dozen similar server setups and this is not happening on any
of the other servers and it was working just fine for a year up until
recently. This particular server is quite busy. There is plenty of disk
space and inode usage is about 2.5%.

I'm trying to set up a public folder called TestFolder. I'm getting this error:

confused with ssl settings and some error - need help
Hi,
To default dovecot.conf file I added (based on found documentation):
ssl = required
disable_plaintext_auth = yes #change default 'no' to 'yes'
ssl_prefer_server_ciphers = yes
ssl_options = no_compression
ssl_dh_parameters_length = 2048
ssl_cipher_list =

confused with ssl settings and some error - need help
Thank You for answers. But:
1. How should be properly configured ssl_cipher_list?
2. Ok, removed !TLSv1 !TLSv1.1.
3. Strange thing with ssl_protocols and ssl_cipher_list, because on older
server on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, dovecot 2.2.9 and postfix 2.11.0 these two
lines looks exactly this same and no errors in mail.err file and mailes
works without any problem.
4. No, currently I don't use LMTP.

Cipher list which You post provide better compatibility or security than
those which I currently have?
On older software version these cipher list works well and not generate any
errors when I run Internal PCI scan test from https://cloud.tenable.com for
another server. But for new server with newer software during test I got
errors in mail.err.

Using SpamProbe via only sieve scripts
FWIW this took me days to get right, and still needs tinkering, but it
might make for a good starting point for anyone else needing something
similar (ie; I don't use or need the overhead of spamassassin or rspamd).

The password is correct, i.e. 'echo -n 'passed' | openssl dgst -sha1' matches.
The user is setup correctly in /etc/dovecot/users (the /etc/dovecot/users was copied from another known-good server, so the syntax is correct and appropriate

rsync sleep
Is it possible to sleep 1 second after each file is rsynced?
Ofcourse, I can put this in a for loop and do a sleep after each file
is done, I was wondering if there was anything native in rsync for
this type of operation.
TIA

got a listener on 993
Hello,
Before I get in to my question is ssl on 993 or starttls on 143 better
from a security perspective?
I've noticed that I've got a dovecot listener on port 993, below is my
doveconf -n output I don't have an imaps listener uncommented should I
do so and set it's port to 0? Will that disable the 993 listener?
Thanks.
Dave.
