Security Implications of "ldap server require strong auth"?
Hello Samba Team,
I hope someone with more expertise than me can englighten me to the
following "problem":
I'm on my way to implement Nextcloud LDAP Authentication against my
existing Samba Active Directory via the LDAP Auth Plugin in Nextcloud. I
have had trouble with the configuration of the Auth-Plugin in Nextcloud
because it could not bind to the ldap directory.
After some

CentOS, PHP & OwnCloud/Nextcloud: the version dilemma
Hi,
I'm currently experimenting with OwnCloud and Nextcloud on a sandbox
CentOS 7 server. I've been using OwnCloud for the last two years for my
own purposes on a Slackware server, and I'm quite happy with it.
In my humble opinion, every admin who wants to host OwnCloud or
Nextcloud on a RHEL/CentOS server is confronted with a version dilemma.
1. CentOS 7 sports PHP 5.4, which has

Security Implications of "ldap server require strong auth"?
Hello Thomas,
we've done the exact same thing: we have a few nextcloud instances bound
to Samba (now 4.20, but 4.19 worked too).
You HAVE to use "ldaps://<FQDN>" in the "Host" field and "636" in the
"Port" field.
For the certificates issues: either you create a CA, create the samba
certificates and add this CA to the trusted certificate

I am wondering if anyone know more about the fact that the official
nextcloud documentation states it does not work with linux based smb
servers for notify support?

Migrate openLDAP into Samba AD
Hi,
we moved (or still are moving) our users manually from our Samba NT4
Domain with LDAP to a Samba AD (4.7.6). We had a few schema extensions
in our openLDAP to feed some services (dovecot mail settings, nextcloud
quota, ...). I would prefer to have only one place for our users, but
I'm new to AD. I've read that I can extend the schema, which seems not
too different from openLDAP, even
