Hi!
I understand that it is not trivial to move away from vpopmail and does require changing a working system. But then again, one should be able to configure MySQL passdb/userdb with vpopmail schema.
I am not familiar with vpopmail but if someone comes with instructions we can polish them a bit (if necessary) and publish them as howto on doc.dovecot.org.

So I am on of the many users with qmail, and using vpopmail auth, I guess chatting with some other guys in the other mailing list we will convert to mysql driver but this is a lot of work for many people.
I do understand dropping things out but a valid solutions needs to be proposed.

Headsup on feature removal
With these planned changes, you mention they will be removed from
'core', so is the intention to allow more of these legacy plugins to
more to their own repo's for those that might still want to use them?
Eg, more in the the path of plug-in architecture? Just curious for
clarity.
Oh, and have to add.. still waiting on the variable capability patch, to
allow plugins to modify

Problem with atwin2k.. and debugger output..
DOH! THe probelm was what I was seeing WASN'T the output of the debugger..
The debugger SEEMED to run, but what it was is that there was no font
directories to search (BTW, how do we specify a xfs server?)
Anyways, now that I added a font directory, the real debugger actually comes
up, and shows the following...

Crash while trying to Run atwin2k (Accuterm)
It installed correctly, however when trying to run, I briefly get a window
appearing, and then it crashes. A trace reveals:

Another Issue (oleaut32.dll -> CreateTypeLib2)
Trying to run an MSAccess Runtime and I get the typical crash and debug..
(PS, WHY can't I copy and paste from the debbugger itself :)

work okay, but when the debugger kicks in, then I cannot change window focus
to other X apps at all.

NFS Locking and Submission Service Authentication
For the record, ever since the last patches for NFS got committed, we
don't see locking issues over NFS in general across all our platforms,
but it also depends on how you configure your NFS server.
You might find that this is not a dovecot issue, but an NFS issue.
You might want to post more about your NFS setup(s) and then someone on
the list might better assist you.

WIN 3.1 App crashes.. Unhandled Exception
The program is Atwin.exe (Accuterm) and going back to the 3.1 version as it's
reliance on Windows specific .dll's is better than recent versions...
However, I get as far as the initial splash screen and nothing.. If I hit the
enter key twice it continues running for a bit, and then hangs..

I block all my email ports except 25 from countries where I am not going to be sending or receiving email. I also block many datacenters, but blocking Digital Ocean, Vultur and AWS will get you 90%of the way there. You will need to use 587, that is no auth on 25.
