doveadm sync issues (revised)
Hi, I'm experiencing serious issues using doveadm sync; mails are not replicating and/or mails are duplicating. I wanted to use this for migrating external mailboxes to my server (in order to overcome the time when some servers/clients still use the old server and some already my server, as described on <https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Tools/Doveadm/Sync>). Finally I was able to reproduce

doveadm sync subscribed folders only
Heya, is there a simple way to use "doveadm sync" for subscribed folders only? Since the migration from UW-IMAP, our users can actually subscribe to non-mbox files and now, when we are pushing new servers out, we are migrating our mboxes to dbox format and we would like to migrate only subscribed folders. I know, there is a -m switch which can be used to transfer subscribed

using 'socat' to relay Dovecot SASL's auth socket over TCP?
hi, i've been running Exim & Dovecot together on the same box. Exim's been sharing Dovecot/SASL auth info over a local unix socket. works great. i'm now splitting Exim & Dovecot onto two different boxes. iiuc, Dovecot ONLY provides a UNIX (local) socket; *not* a TCP socket for over-the-network access. SUre, I could mount the Dovecot socket's volume over NFS ... but

doveadm sync only creates directories, don't sync messages?
Running Dovecot 2.1.7. I'm trying to migrate from an environment with mbox files to a maildir configuration. I remove all vestiges of my maildir over in /var/mail I put my old mailboxes in ./Mail and my old inbox in ./matthew. I issue this command: doveadm sync -u matthew at matthew.at mbox:./Mail:INBOX=./matthew Initially it gave me errors about separator, so I set the separator in

Using "doveadm pw" as unpriviledged user
Hi all, Some time ago, I wrote a small CGI script to let users change their IMAP password. The script runs as www-data user and uses "doveadm pw" to check if a password hash matches a password. Unfortunately, this means that I have to make large parts of my dovecot config world-readable, as otherwise I get errors like this: doveconf: Fatal: Error in configuration file

"doveadm backup/sync" don't follow message moving even with MDBOX
Using mdbox as the storage backend, moving a message from a mailbox to another just update a reference. The message is not fisically moved on the disk. I would expect "dsync" to use this fact when source and destination are mdbox. But it doesn't. Anybody else can confirm?. Any plan to implement it?. Thanks!. -- Jes?s Cea Avi?n _/_/ _/_/_/

"doveadm sync/backup" and SSH should use "ssh-agent" if available
I use SSH-AGENT in my system, to cache SSH credentials and avoid typing my key every time I connect to a remoto host. But "doveadm sync/backup", when one of the ends is SSH accessed, doesn't use the available SSH-AGENT and forces me to type my password. -- Jes?s Cea Avi?n _/_/ _/_/_/ _/_/_/ jcea at jcea.es - http://www.jcea.es/ _/_/ _/_/

"doveadm sync/backup" should show some kind of progress meter
Using "-v" with those commands doesn't nothing, aparently. Using "-D" shows complex debug info only useful for debugging. But this comands take a lot of time and should show some kind of progress meter/feedback like network speed, percent, ETA, etc. -- Jes?s Cea Avi?n _/_/ _/_/_/ _/_/_/ jcea at jcea.es - http://www.jcea.es/ _/_/

custom ssh port doveadm sync
Hi all, First sorry i really couldn't find it back been searching everywhere even the docs and its bit confusing. I am using # doveadm -D sync -u *@mydomain.net remote:myserver.net # which works perfect however for security reasons we now need to change the sshd port on the remote server. How do i tell doveadm to use a custom SSH port (would love to continue to use just the ssh

Hi! When I run "doveadm sync -u <an-specific-user> tcp:192.168.0.2:12345", I get this error: http://pastebin.com/NxyyNGJk Only to one specific user... doveadm import/sync with read-only source location

Doveadm-sync SSH practicalities
Hi, The documentation is somewhat silent on this subject. What permissions does the SSH user need ? How associated does it need to be with things like dovecot directory ownership etc ? Obviously my dovecot daemon processes are running as restricted users with "nologin" shells etc., and I don't really want to go opening them up if I don't have to. So could someone kindly

Yes, I do mean that address, I read that page four times and was still none the wiser. <rant-mode>And to be completely frank with you, if documentation relies on "implicit" guesswork and expects the user to "read between the lines" then in my books it
