Dovecot authentication through proxy
Hi everybody, I run two redundant Dovecot servers with a shared Maildir on a GlusterFS volume and a SQL authentication backend based on a mirrored MariaDB database. Because of the splitbrain situation I would like to add two Dovecot Director as proxies. Since a few days I am trying to get the setup running. In the meantime I have achieved that the clients can successfully authenticate on the

Upgrade 2.2.27 to 2.3.9.2: master(imap): net_connect_unix(imap) failed: Resource temporarily unavailable
Hi, After upgrading Dovecot from version 2.2.27 to 2.3.9.2, we are sporadically seeing lots of these errors in the error log on many of our servers: imap-login: Error: master(imap): net_connect_unix(imap) failed: Resource temporarily unavailable - http://wiki2.dovecot.org/SocketUnavailable The issue is causing significant delays and/or timeouts on login. From what I can tell, this

Panic/Assert dns-lookup.c
Hi, currently we deploying Dovecot as imap/pop3 proxy. Every few minutes some panic/assert occurred (we connect roughly 7k - 8k user at one imap proxy with a connection rate of 200/s). We activate core dumps. Concerning the sensitive information in the dump we would prefer to not share the dump (e.g. i found our ssl private key in the dump). Number of imap-login processes always keeps growing, never goes down
Hi all! I've bumped into an issue which Dovecot which has me a bit stumped; All of a sudden (ie. no obvious changes made to the config as far as I know) Dovecot seems to never stop 'imap-login' processes. This continues to the point where it will hit the 'process_limit'. For a 50-ish user install the limit was set to 100 but I increased it to 512. The only thing this changes

Unknown setting error with dovecot-sql.conf.ext
OMG, that was it, so sorry to have wasted your time. The text editor I am using (Ultraedit) is adding a BOM (Byte Order Marker) to the beginning of the file. I have disabled this in settings but it keeps doing it. Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction. After removing the 3 invisible characters from the dovecot-sql.conf.ext file it magically worked. Andy -----Original

personal sieve script not included
Hello, I'm using dovecot 2.2.10 and roundcube (with managesieve enabled). Sieve filtering works well, as long the rule is written into ~/.dovecot.sieve (which is a link to ~/sieve/managesieve.sieve) When adding a new filter set (in roundcube) the script is written to ~/sieve/newfilterset.sieve. This script will not be executed. How can I solve this? I set sieve_dir = ~/sieve This should work,

Upgrade 2.2.27 to 2.3.9.2: master(imap): net_connect_unix(imap) failed: Resource temporarily unavailable
While I not certain that this is related to the problem we are experiencing, we are also (more rarely) seeing these: dovecot: master: Warning: service(imap-login): process_limit (16) reached, client connections are being dropped imap-login was set to process_limit=16, client_limit=1250 (for a total of 20000 concurrent clients) on 2.2.27. We never had any issues with this then. I tried

With proctitles below. Strangely, Dovecot is reporting 12679 imap-login sockets in "pre-login" state, which is about 50% more than there are active TCP connections to the server (8271, of which 7546 are in "imap-login" process according to `ss -tp`). On another server, not currently experiencing this issue, the number of TCP sockets appears to more closely match the

Uh. It's not actually supported to access same user concurrently from two servers even if you are using NFS. It will cause problems. You should use dovecot director or some other arrangement to make sure this does not happen.
