Ok, before I definetly give up, and throw the laptop out of the window, or
fill my data.frame manually, I'll ask for some help.
I have a data.frame named MyTable with 3 columns, that looks like this:

MySQL issues with kernel-2.6.18-53.1.6.el5.x86_64.rpm
Hi all!
Just a word of warning: after updating a few of our x86_64 based web
frontend boxes to the new kernel, we began to get weird MySQL
timeouts. The problem went away again when we downgraded to the
previous kernel-2.6.18-53.1.6.el5.x86_64.rpm

Colours for sunflowerplot
Dear fellow R users,
I would like to draw a "sunflowerplot" because I have data (decade by
month) that plots multiple times on the same x-y co-ordinates. Further I
would like to colour each of the points/sunflower leaves on the plot
according to the group they belong to (i.e. which type of event each
represents within that decade and month). I thought that this would be

spatial plots maps-ssplot
Hi all,
I have made a plot with ssplot, using a SpatialPointsDataFrame. The
content is quite simple, as I have 9 grid points with lon/lat
coordinates and 9 values attached to these coordinates. They are in a
square area of 3 by 3 gridboxes.
I would like to lay a map from maps() over these values, but when I try
this, the grids of the maps (smaller) do not overlap with the grids I
have

postfix pb with mass emails
Hi
I'm hosting a forum (phpbb) with more than 3500 users with centos 4.3.
The forum admins would like to send an email to its (3500) users. I
configured phpbb to use smtp (postfix-2.1.5-4.2.RHEL4.mysql.centos4) to
send the email.
I raised the max destination limit from 1000 to 5000, and made a test.
Here the disaster began:
Majority of the users received from 20 to 50 emails.

survexp with weights
Hello,
I probably have a syntax error in trying to generate an expected
survival curve from a weighted cox model, but I can't see it. I used
the help sample code to generate a weighted model, with the addition
of a "weights=albumin" argument (I only chose albumin because it had
no missing values, not because of any real relevance). Below are my
code with the resulting error

gradient generation
Dear R-help subscribers;
I have a question regarding making gradients in R. I've searched on the
web, but was only able to find functions that make a gradient between
color X and Y, which is not what I want.
I want to 'pick out' individual, smaller pieces of a gradient based on a
range of numbers. Say that I have a range of numbers, leading from 0 to
1. Then I want 0 to refer to

Ok, its time. AJAX Games via Rails....
A couple of years ago I was building an online multiplayer game doing
the frontend in Flash MX 2004 and using Colin Moock''s Unity server
(http://moock.org/unity/) for the backend. This was to be along the
lines of JungleWar and the Hidden and Dangerous mini games for those
whom remember these:

ylim in barplot()
If you are using a Windows system, you can Export the plot from RStudio and save it as a metafile without using package devEMF and it will crop the bars with xpd=FALSE. When I used devEMF on a Windows machine, the bars were not cropped with barplot() as you indicated, but when I switched to plotrix::barp() they were cropped. The arguments are a bit different, but I did not need xpd=FALSE:

ylim in barplot()
Thank you David,
That's a nice workaround using plotrix::barp(), but that doesn't explain
why ylim doesn't work as intended (or at least, as I expect it to work),
or why xpd has no influence when using devEMF::emf()...
The problem with saving directly in RStudio is that it requires to
manually save the plot, and this becomes troublesome when there are a
lot of plot commands in a
