Mailcrypt plugin private password
Do I have to replace the "password" part with the actual password or can I just copy it like that?
Will dovecot create the keypair automatically or do I have to use doveadm?

implementing folder hashing
Hi everyone,
I want to ask if any of you has done a migration from a single storage
to multiple back-end storages and what is the best strategy for folder
hashing that you use.
Using something like %H or %M how do you predict where the mail will end
up in order to move the existing folders ?
Thank you !

Thank you for your reply.
One questionthough, if you add a mount point how do you know what user
to move ?

Authentication per Service
Hi All,
I use dovecot (v2.3.4) with a SQL backend for user authentication,
passwords are
stored in CRAMMD5 format.
My SMTP server uses "doveadm auth" via auth-socket to perform sender
authentification. To shut down SMTP access for hacked passwords I want
to have a dedicated flag in the user database to allow/disallow SMTP for
a user withouth disabling his account for IMAP.
So, is

Is any of the password schemes supported or is there a reason you chose pkcs5?

Accessing the -a and -d from dovecot-lda
I've got exim set up to deliver like this:
command = /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/dovecot-lda -a $original_local_part@$original_domain -d $local_part@$domain -f $sender_address
If an email to is bob+sales at ish.com.au then we should have "-a
bob+sales at subdomain.ish.com.au -d bob at ish.com.au".
Now in dovecot, only bob at ish.com.au is a real user but I want to be able

Environment variables in pgsql connect string
Hi,
We are trying to set up a Dovecot Docker image with dynamic database
configuration based on environment variables, however the variables do
not appear to be expanded in the "connect=" string of the SQL config.
The documentation states that environment variables, being listed under
global variables, work "everywhere":

Yep, that totally makes sense. I am Old? and still think of ?server? as a physical box sitting in a rack.

Oh, right. I thought we were talking about actual hardware separation.

Dovecot and Solr on the same server or on different
Hi.
what would you suggest? What are the pros and cons for having dovecot and Solr on the same or different hots?
I have about 800 accounts, some millions of mails and about 2 TB of zipped mails.
From the recent experiences regarding maintenance I?d prefer different hosts for each.
Thanks for suggestions and feedback . G?tz

custom userdb server, Exim, and proxying
Hi all,
We have Exim using Dovecot for authentication. Dovecot, in turn, consults a custom internal server that answers Dovecot?s userdb queries.
When IMAP connections arrive, for some users we want to forward those connections--without authentication--to an external IMAP server. For these users, we return ?proxy_maybe? and ?nopassword? in the authn response from our userdb server. This tells

Hi,
forgot that... CIFS and NFS. May be we split both to different servers.
One CIFS, one NFS.

Mysql 5.6, Centos 7 and errno: 24 - Too many open files
Hi,
may be somewon has a working solution and information on that:
I installed the most recent mysql community on a server and do get a lot
of "errno: 24 - Too many open files".
There are suggestions to increase the open_files_limit, change/add that
to /etc/security/limits.conf and modify the systemd script by hand.
Depending on how you start mysql (restart, or at systemboot time

dumping using tftp
Hi
Yeah I ended up figuring it out
My usage for the tool will be to gather hardware specs of new servers that we receive and servers we have in storage
I will then see if I can script something to phrase the dumps to update our inventory tool.
Our main issue is that gathering information manually by opening the server and having to locate each parts is time consuming and being humans we are
