Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I guess RHEL choose v2.2.10

dovecot pre-install issue
Hello all,
I am going for a dovecot director based setup (2 director+ 2 imap), more
imap servers will be added later depending on demand/load. Presently I
have 12000+ dovecot users with Maildir quota varying from 1 GB to 20GB.
(peak hour IOPS 50000+)
I am having 2 options in choosing dovecot version.
1) Old stable release. I.e RHEL, with prebuilt binary. This will be
having less trouble in

dovecot expunge
Hi,
Do we have expunge command by UID. I have some duplicate messages (same
Message-ID but different UID) to be deleted.
doveadm search gives me folder GUID and file UID, I want to use this
specific information to delete/expunge.
E.g. Following command deletes all duplicates, but I want to keep just one.
doveadm expunge? -u user1 mailbox INBOX HEADER Message-ID

dovecot backend on director ?
Hello Timo,
The last time I checked my understanding about director was that :
1. backend/"real" imap servers should not be on the same host (or the same dovecot instance) to
avoid proxying loops.
Is it still the case with the latest 2.1 stable release ? Is there a plan to be
able to run director and real server on the same host, thus requiring only 2
hosts instead of 4 to have

dovecot director service
hi,
we are using the dovecot-rc1 version, and we are testing the director
service,
as there is little documentation on this service, a pair of questions..
if i'm not wrong, the proxy_maybe it's not implemented, yet? will be soon?
this limitation does not allow use the same two directors servers like
mail backend servers?
the fairlure of one director server it's automatically

proxy_maybe & director incompatibility
Hi Folks,
I spent quite some time yesterday understanding how proxy works along with the director. I came to the conclusion that proxy_maybe and director cannot be used together, but this isn?t a true incompatibility so much as caused by the way things are handled and the order they are processed in.
The way proxy_maybe works is that it is processed by the auth provider once it gets the

Ox Dovecot - dovecot.fi - dovecot-ee repo access
Hi
My question is a little off topic but hoping the community has some insight or advise.
Has anyone had success in contacting OX dovecot. We previous purchased Dovecot Pro and had access to the dovecot-ee (https://yum.dovecot.fi) repository. Credentials are no longer valid and all attempts (over the months) to reach Ox gain no response.
Wondering if others are having Pro access issues or have

Director and CRAM-MD5
Hello,
i have a setup with two director servers pointing to two backends. I
don't care that much for load balancing, my main goal is high availability.
CRAM-MD5 auth is working fine if I connect directly to the backends, but
the director only supports AUTH=PLAIN because of the static passdb.

v2.1.2 released
http://dovecot.org/releases/2.1/dovecot-2.1.2.tar.gz
http://dovecot.org/releases/2.1/dovecot-2.1.2.tar.gz.sig
There are a ton of proxying related improvements in this release. You
should now be able to do pretty much anything you want with Dovecot
proxy/director.
This release also includes the initial version of dsync-based
replication. I'm already successfully using it for @dovecot.fi

Setting up the Director
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi all,
I'm trying to wrap my head around the Director and how it works, but I'm not having much luck finding documentation. Currently, I have two front end mail servers that use NFS for mail storage. I'm using Cisco's SLB for load balancing, though I may switch over to a server-based load balancing solution at some point.

director monitoring?
I'm working the kinks of a new director based setup for the eventual
migration away from courier. At this point, with everything basically
working I'm trying to ensure that things are properly monitored and I've
run into an issue. There doesn't appear to be a way to get dovecot to
tell if it is (or is not) connected and properly synced with the other
director servers in the ring

director with same director / backend servers
I know this has been covered somewhat, but I'm still not totally clear.
I'm trying to setup a 3 node cluster with 3 directors and 3 backend
systems.
This post (from 2012) suggests that proxy_maybe should work with director:
http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2012-December/069806.html
However, these two posts (from 2013) seem to say that it will not:

Director+NFS Experiences
As someone who is about to begin the process of moving from maildir to
mdbox on NFS (and therefore just about to start the 'director-ization' of
everything) for ~6.5m mailboxes, I'm curious if anyone can share any
experiences with it. The list is surprisingly quiet about this subject, and
articles on google are mainly just about setting director up. I've yet to
stumble across an

Director and deliver
Hello Timo,
Although I haven't tried neither director nor deliver, I'm planning to try
both. I've been catching up with threads on this list talking about director
but I'm not sure about how deliver would fit into a setup using director.
Since deliver would touch indexes and dovecot-uidlist, wouldn't it need to be
proxied as well through director ? Is that the case ? If not,

auth error using director
Hello,
I am trying to configure director as described at
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Director. I have previously tried the proxy and
it worked.
The problem I have is that whenever I try to connect I get the error:
Jul 1 11:41:41 myotis40 dovecot: pop3-login: Error: auth:
connect(director) failed: No such file or directory
This is my doveconf -n:

Wrong protocol in socket (director-doveadm vs director) ?
I just noticed this error in my logs:
director: Error: doveadm not compatible with this server (mixed old and new
binaries?)
director: Error: director(10.161.192.28:541/right): Wrong protocol in socket
(director-doveadm vs director)
The first error I removed by changing
director_doveadm_port = 541
to
director_doveadm_port = 542
Not really sure why that fixed it.
The second error I

SMTP configuration for director mail cluster
HI All,
I have setup my Dovecot director proxies and Dovecot backend mail
stores.? I intend setting up several incoming and outgoing Exim
MTA's.? I am a bit confused about what I need to run on the backend
Dovecot MTA's to get the incoming mail delivered to them.? Do I need
to install Exim on them or use LMTP to receive mail from the MTA's??
Also, can I directly deliver mail to the
