Dovecot user lookup from sendmail
Hi * after trying everything I could think of and find on the web, I'm totally stumped ... maybe someone give me some hints on what I'm doing wrong, or where to look ... I have an ancient customer box with sendmail & cyrus imap, with imap using an LDAP database of users (no locally configured users), all of which is working fine. This machine needs to be replaced by a new

sendmail not sending after reboot
HI folks, I've an up-to-date CentOS 5.x box on a small intranet (<20 users). We did a reboot over the weekend and all appears well except that clients on the LAN can no longer send email. Just hangs/times out. No clear identifiers in the /var/log/maillog or /var/log/messages. We're not setup for ESMTP as it's a closed network and I'm really hoping for a kickstart as to

Issues with Plus addressing and detail part of subaddress.
Hi all, So, it's been a while. I'm just ramping back up with Dovecot after a hiatus of a few years. I've been using it fine, complete with Sieve, for about a year, with little or no issues. I finally got around to setting up a second account, to start figuring out how I want to do some plus address filtering. In a nutshell, I want to put mail for foo+bar in foo's 'bar'

Dovecot LMTP does not pass envelope recipient +detail to sieve
I found this[1] thread that describes the same problem with dovecot-LDA, but the solution (add X-Original-To: header) has no effect with LMTP. My sendmail LMTP configuration: FEATURE(`local_lmtp',`[IPC]',`FILE /var/run/dovecot/lmtp') Sendmail's address test indicates that sendmail is providing user+detail to LMTP (see below). Except for this problem, dovecot, LMTP, and sieve

Sendmail using SMTP authorization
Hi - OK not really an Asterisk question but it is affecting one of my favorite features - emailing voice mail! I've posted on some Linux forums and sendmail.org but no response so I'm hoping someone will take pity on me ;-) My ISP requires SMTP authorization and I'm having a heck of a time getting it to work. I've included the following below: Asterisk 1.4.21 CentOS 5 Sendmail

Dovecot user lookup from sendmail
Use exim instead of sendmail with an LDA or LMTP transport. How to configure sendmail using dovecot lmtp
Hi, I can't seems to find any posting on how to configure sendmail to use dovecot as lmtp. All I see is using it as LDA. I am particularly interested on how to tell sendmail to ask dovecot to deliver the message to the user. In the wiki for lda it says to add the following in the sendmail config: FEATURE(`local_procmail',

sendmail -> lmtp 501 5.6.0 Data format error
When changing in a working setup sendmail.mc From this MAILER(smtp)dnl MAILER(procmail)dnl To this FEATURE(`local_lmtp',`[IPC]',`FILE /var/run/dovecot/lmtp')dnl MAILER(local)dnl I am getting these errors '501 5.6.0 Data format error' and ' Unrecognized host name'. What should I change in my lmtp config? Could this be related that messages are being relayed from

Dovecot Virtual Users with Sendmail
I'm trying to get Dovecot working with Virtual Users and Sendmail on OpenIndiana 151a7. OpenIndiana is the Open Source continuation of OpenSolaris after Oracle tried to kill it off a couple of years ago shortly after acquiring Sun Microsystems. I'm not sure if this is so much a Dovecot problem, as much of a Sendmail problem. I thought this would probably be a better list to start with,

Deliver, sendmail & envelope From_
Sorry, couldn't find this in the archives. Under freebsd 4.x, the native mail.local that sendmail uses by default writes From_ lines that include the origin address. This is very readily parsable and handy for quick greps in mboxes. But deliver defaults it to MAILER-DAEMON. I see you can specify the envelope From_ with "-f", but I'm not sure how that's useful. All; I installed sendmail via yum, but if I test it like this: echo "Subject: sendmail test" | sendmail sbob at quadratum-braccas.com I get a local mail on the server with this every time: Message? 1: From MAILER-DAEMON at kdb-bugs.example.com? deliver to root
Hi, we use dovecot 1.1.11 on a RH Server with sendmail. Local delivery is done with deliver: Mlocal, P=/usr/local/libexec/dovecot/deliver, F=lsDFMAw5:/|@qSPfhn9, S=EnvFromL/HdrFromL, R=EnvToL/HdrToL, T=DNS/RFC822/X-Unix, A=deliver -d $u This setup works without issues for us, but mail to root has a problem with deliver: deliver(root): Mar 04 16:31:31

Sendmail and deliver LDA exits with EX_TEMPFAIL on overquota
Hi all, I have setup dovecot 1.1.4 and sendmail 8.14.3 with dovecot LDA on linux (RHEL5 on x86_64). I have deliberately set a very low quota (4MB) on a test account, while the actual disk usage is 5MB at the moment, in order to test overquota behaviour.. When I send an email to this account, sendmail accepts the email and tries to deliver it. Deliver fails to save in INBOX and returns an
