lmtp and virtual users
Dear Aki, good afternoon.
Thank you very much for your response and thank you again for the tip on
how I could resolve this issue. The problem I'm facing is that I need
dovecot to serve emails with two different authorization methods for
imap and sasl, one through the kerberos ticket as in
https://wiki.dovecot.org/Authentication/Kerberos which I have working
but only with a static userdb and

Is this still relevant? Is there a workaround? It seems like using

You set ?auth_bind' to ?no' and and you make sure ?dn? and ?dnpass? are properly configured with a user with enough privileges to read users passwords.
And also, you make sure your pass_attrs contains a password attributes (containing the user password hash).

CentOS 5.9 Xen DomU NFS Data Transfer to Dom0 kills network.
Greetings,
I have problem using Dom0 as NFS(v4)-server and DomU as client. When
ever the client actually tries to copy data to nfs-server the virtual
network (bridge) between the two hosts completely freezes and stops
working. After this of course the client hangs waiting nfs-server to
answer and server continues to try to contact nfslock daemon on the client.
Dom0 is still accessible from

LMTP doing passdb queries ?
Hi,
I can see dovecot is doing a passdb query when handling the LMTP RCPT
command.
That's kinda unexpected for me. I would have thought it only did a
userdb lookup.
I have disabled lmtp_proxy to be sure it didn't do a passdb lookup to
check the proxy field.
Is this expected? Doesn't the LDA only do userdb lookups?

argument names in generic print functions (PR#955)
Hello,
I think this is a bug, although it is possible that I'm doind something
silly.
I want to be able to determine the argument name for variables passed to
a generic print function
suppose we have
print.foo <- function(x, ...)
{
nm<-deparse(substitute(x))
cat("param name is ", nm, "\n")
}
d<-structure(1, class="foo")

Userdb by directory lookup
Hi,
I have the Dovecot (2.2.27-3+deb9u2) with LMTP and Postfix. Static userdb:
userdb {
driver = static
args = uid=vmail gid=vmail home=/data/vmail/user/%n allow_all_users=yes
}
and passdb by LDAP, only to verify IMAP user password by bind.
Problem is, when someone sends email to non-existent at mydomain.tld,
Dovecot automatically creates its home directory and Maildir.
Is there any

Allow delivery to existing accounts only with LDAP and static
Hi,
we are using LDAP binding as a passdb, and static with
allow_all_users=yes as an userdb.
Works fine, but problem is, Maildirs are created for non-existent
accounts too. We would like to prevent it.
The LDAP binding does not supporta user lookups. Is the correct way to
use checkpassword as a passdb before LDAP, check for account existency
here and:

Deliver all addresses to the same mdbox:?
For archiving purposes I'm delivering all addresses to the same mdbox:
like this:
passdb {
driver = passwd-file
args = username_format=%u /etc/dovecot/passwd
}
userdb {
driver = static
args = uid=1000 gid=1000 home=/home/copymail allow_all_users=yes
}
Yet I'm getting this:

Is there anywhere an example of how this would be setup? I understand
the use of a service account which I already setup but I can't figure
out how to use this service account to retrieve information and
authenticate users.
Thanks!
Best regards,
David Wells.

Userdb by directory lookup
One day, I'll use the LDAP. But infrastructure I got is quite neglected
and some older admins is hard to convince to innovate. Just, aaaaah :)
I read whole documentation related to userdb a and passdb. Easy to
understand with relation to IMAP or POP3 access. But what I didn't
understand is relation to LMTP. Which one is used and when for
successful delivery.
I'll try to move

Good afternoon.
I'm configuring dovecot to authenticate users against a samba server
running as an active directory domain controller. I followed the
instructions as stated in the page
https://wiki.dovecot.org/Authentication/Kerberos and considering the
sentence that states [...]The Kerberos authentication mechanism doesn't
require having a passdb, but you do need a userdb[...] I

auth-worker temporary failures causing lmtp 500 rejection
Hi there,
I'm using dovecot 2.0.16 with a mysql user database. From time to time
when we have a big influx of messages (perhaps more than 30 concurrent
rcpt to:<> sessions at the same time so no auth-workers free?) or when
we have a transient issue connecting to the database server, we see the
message:
Jan 25 16:38:23 mailbox dovecot: auth-worker: sql(foo at bar.com,1.2.3.4):
