Problems with (probably) Dovecot
Hello altogether,
I've got Dovecot 0.99 installed on a Suse Linux 9.2 system, together
with Postfix. I need to upgrade that server in the near future to new
hardware and new versions, but at the moment it would be great, if I
could find the solution for the following problem without upgrading.
Unfortunately I didn't find a solution in Google.
The system has enough memory and disc

Bandwidth limiting
Since shapecfg is no longer part of the distro what are people using in
place of cbq to limit/throttle bandwidth? I have an ftp mirror that, if
left unchecked, will suck up the entire bandwidth of the CoLo site.
TIA,
Joe

FETCH for mailbox INBOX UID 39641 got too little data: 4823 vs 4825
Whenever I try to access an e-mail in the middle (rather than at the end) of
the mailbox, my mail-client (KMail) gets an error a message like this is
logged in the maillog:
IMAP(mi): FETCH for mailbox INBOX UID 39641 got too little data: 4823 vs 4825
IMAP(mi): Disconnected: Disconnected
The actual numbers vary, but it is always X vs X+2
The problem started when I upgraded to 1.0.8.

CBQ and/or HTB help needed
Ok, this has been kicking my @$$ for weeks. I'm trying to get some
kind of bandwidth shaping working on my server. I need to throttle ftp
down so as not to suck up all the available bandwidth. I had cbq
working on the old server (an ancient RH 6.2 box) so I figured I'd just
move the config over and get cbq.init from sf.net and it should work.
Unfortunately it doesn't. At least

Problem getting incoming mail to IMAP inbox
I have dovecot-0.99.10.5 on Fedora Core 2 installed and otherwise operating
using Maildir format for the folders, Kmail as the email client. Got through
all the ssl and other security configuration fine, but have one last problem:
I can't read the incoming mail from /var/spool/mail/%u. Tried several
'default_mail_env' settings, including none at all, to no avail. When I try

Beta question - initial install of packages
When I used Fedora Core 5, and got to the screen for packages to install, I had
the option to Customize which packages I wanted to install, but never an option
to install EVERYTHING. That annoyed me.
When I use Redhat Enterprise 4, and get to the screen for packages to install, I
have the option to Customize which packages I want to install. That leads me
to a screen showing a tree of

Access email and addressbook from everywhere
Hello.
I using evolution for email, and runs well, now the next that I would
like is access to my email and evolution addressbook from everywhere.
What should I install? there is any webmail that can use evolution
settings? Or better a program for control that computer that I can
access from any computer with a web browser? There is anything as this?

.INBOX required?
Hi,
Newbie to Dovecot and IMAP in general. The system in question is RH 9,
Dovecot 0.99.11, Maildir, accessing mail with SquirrelMail, Thunderbird,
Kmail, Mutt, Entourage and Mail.app.
I've set up the maildir for users in ~/Maildir. Inside that I have other
folders, .Sent, .Drafts, .Trash, .Junk, .MakeJunk, .MakeGood.
~/Maildir itself has the cur, new, and tmp folders, but I note that
there

Replacement for KMail V1
Last week my trusty Fedora 9 file and print server failed on me. Not bad
for 12 years trusty service.
I have now replaced it with a C7 server and found that lots have changed
in those 12 years. Thankfully many things haven't, named-chroot, dhcpd,
etc pretty much copied across and Samba wasn't a major rewrite.
However I feel like my right arm has been chopped off.? My work life

Mark message as read when moved to Trash
Hi all,
When I send a message to trash, without previously reading it (just with the subject is enough to say I do not want to read it), it remains as "unread". Then, clients (I am using Kmail) report there are unread message, when all of them are in Trash. The question, then is: Is there any way to automatically mark a message as read, when that message is moved to Trash?
Thank you!

File isn't in mbox format: /home/foo/mail/Trash
Hello,
I'm seeing the following error on a server:
File isn't in mbox format: /home/foo/mail/Trash
The Trash file is full of the following at the beginning:
^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^
I've repaired the file several times, but this keeps happening. Would
any of you mind offering me some insight into what could be causing this
and how to fix it?

A common, read-only IMAP INBOX for all accounts
Hi,
since I had no luck finding people available on IRC, I hope someone here
can provide
me with some answers to, hopefully, 2 simple questions (and have the
solution recorded
in the archives for everyone with the same need).
A little background, as the subject says it - I want to have a single INBOX
shared
among all the accounts on my system, where only one account would have
writing rights,
