Oh, right. I thought we were talking about actual hardware separation.

I agree that is a small mail load.
But I mean, if you are running virtual machines (like me) it is
better to split the roles and leave solr on its own.

Errors wih fts-solr
Thanks,
but how? I looked through solr documentation and found anything useful.
For now got it working setting up nginx and strip down the header, but I
think it isn't the proper solution.
Cheers

Dovecot and Solr on the same server or on different
Hi, from a scalability perspective I would put solr on a separate host.

Yep, that totally makes sense. I am Old? and still think of ?server? as a physical box sitting in a rack.

Optimizing search performance for mobile devices / web mailer / general - solr plugin config
Hi all,
we run dovecot for a long time now with no complains from the users ? until this week. Some users say, the search in mailfolders from iPhone (which only stores a few mails and search most on the server as I know) or our web mailer (SOGo, which I currently search also on the imap server) is ?slow?.
As this is sort of individual experience, I was thinking of ways to speed up the search and

[SOLR] Where is solr-schema.xml?
Hello,
running dovecot 2.3.2.1 on Arch Linux, and installed solr 7.4.0.
According to the wiki, there should be doc/solr-schema.xml, but I cannot
find it.
Tried "whereis dovecot":
dovecot: /usr/bin/dovecot /usr/lib/dovecot /etc/dovecot
/usr/include/dovecot /usr/share/dovecot /usr/share/man/man1/dovecot.1.gz
But I cannot find any xml files using
find /usr/{lib,share}/dovecot -name

dovecot fts-solr + solr 8.7.0 upgrade: "Indexing failed: 401 Unauthorized" + "Transaction commit failed: FTS transaction commit failed: backend deinit" ?
I've built a new dovecot + fts-solr instance; I've now picked up & am running the recently released solr 8.7.0.
In a test account, I've one message -- in the 'Drafts' folder.
On exec of fts 'index'
doveadm index -u testuser at example.com -q '*'
I get a
401 unauthorized
indexing failure, only for the one dir+message in 'Drafts',

Solr
Hi
I am giving Solr another try.
Using Solr 7.5 (from Archlinux AUR), I do not see anymore
the"solr/conf/schema.xml" neither the "managed-schema" folder. (as per
https://wiki.dovecot.org/Plugins/FTS/Solr)
Maybe some things have moved ?
Thank you so much

SOLR 5
Hello,
I just wanted to give SOLR 5 a try, however there probably have changed
quite some bits in the config files, did not even manage to create a
core with various solrconfig.xml and schema.xml files, but I am
absolutely no expert in solr.
Has anybody given it a try or are there some tips on how to get it
running?
regards,
Robert

Ok...so we need to do some more digging.
How did you install Solr? (I downloaded a "binary" installation and
unpacked it)
How did
