mailbox.auto ignores dovecot-uidlist.lock
I'm trying to lock down a maildir from modifications using
dovecot-uidlist.lock, but when a user with mailbox.auto = create logs
in, then the folder is created regardless of dovecot-uidlist.lock
existing or not.
Is there no way to prevent dovecot from touching anything in a maildir
folder?

NFS lock contention for dovecot-uidlist
We are in the process of migrating away from Courier-IMAP/POP3 and
Maildrop. I want to use Dovecot (LDA, IMAP, POP3). During my testing, it
has worked great except for dotlocking on the dovecot-uidlist file.
The problem:
When a delivery is being made with deliver and a mail client has the
mailbox open (Thunderbird in this case), neither Thunderbird or deliver
can get a dotlock on the

What causes dovecot to rebuild dovecot-uidlist?
Hello,
In what situations will Dovecot 1.2.11 rebuild its uidlist? I am using the
maildir storage format, and I am also modifying the uidlist manually (so
it's possible I could jack* things up). I have found some related code in
maildir-uidlist.c: maildir_uidlist_next.
1) Blank filename or UID 0
2) Any UID not being greater than the proceeding UID
3) Any UID being greater than ~4 billion.

Dovecot deliver uidlist issues
Hi all,
Lets say I have a maildir which doesn't contain any dovecot files but
has some emails lying around in it. If I add a message to this mailbox
using deliver, dovecot creates the uidlist file with a single entry (the
message that was just delivered). When I then log in to the mailbox, all
the other messages are added into the uidlist file in the normal order
(directory list order I

dovecot-uidlist is not up-to-date
Hi,
?Am using dovecot-2.2.10-8 on Centos-7 and everything seemed to be
totally fine for many years. Now am trying to migrate our on-premises
mail server to the cloud and I had to get some statistics. I was doing
that using the doveadm utility.
Unfortunately I found that the numbers don't match if I check the real
messages in my Maildirs. For some account doveadm was reporting number

Error in rename uidlist while fetching through pop3
My dovecot server seems to randomly begin giving errors to pop3 users
who try to fetch their email. Once this begins, they see no more new
mail, though the mail is in cur.
Running: dovecot-stable 20050501, Mac OS X 10.3.9
Log entries like this:

dovecot-uidlist path
When I use this:
mail_location = maildir:/home/mail/%d/%n
the dovecot-uidlist file is located in:
/home/mail/example.com/user/dovecot-uidlist
But when I change it to:
mail_location = maildir:/home/mail/%d/%n:CONTROL=/var/mail/%d/%n
then it's stored in:
/var/mail/example.com/user/.INBOX/dovecot-uidlist
Any idea why is not stored in: /var/mail/example.com/user/dovecot-uidlist ?

IMAP maildir performance difference between dovecot-uidlist versions?
Hi,
Is there an IMAP performance difference using Maildir between using
version 3 and version 1 of the dovecot-uidlist (either dovecot 1.0.7 or
1.1.2)? It isn't entirely clear to me there is any difference as the
filename may contain the size/vsize information. The servers will
eventually be running 1.1.2 with the maildir_copy_preserve_filename
turned on.
I'm doing a batch migration

dovecot-uidlist....
Hello Everyone:
????? Is it possible to direct dovecot to modify dovecot-uidlist
automatically??? I have some user who use ancient MUA(i.e. Openwebmail)
and IMAP/POP3. Since Openwebmail will insert "Status: R" in the eml
file, the size of the eml file will increase by 10 bytes. If the user use
Openwebmail first, then the size record(S=xxxx) in dovecot-uidlist will
be fine. But if he

Dovecot, Shared Mailboxes (via symlink), and ACLs
Hello! I just joined the list and will be happy to help where I can in
my limited experience, but also come to the table with a question. I
think there's something I'm missing regarding shared mailboxes and ACLs,
so I will describe my situation and see if I am understanding correctly
(running Dovecot 1.1.10). I have read over the Dovecot Wiki many times
and have scoured many forums but

bug - over system quota and dovecot-uidlist
Ever since I've migraded from courier pop3 to dovecot pop3 I'm
constantly getting complains from users that went over system quota
for short while and then their pop3 client downloads all messages
again. I never happened with courier pop3. I think that dovecot does
not handle dovecot-uidlist file safely so it can withstand such
situations.
rsync and other similar programs always writes to
