get errors when doing a tar backup of a windows server with linux smbclient
Hello all, We have a script that does a nightly backup of a windows server to a linux fileserver. The linux system uses smbclient to make a tarball of the share. I get this error when running smbclient: Domain=[OURSERVER] OS=[Windows 5.0] Server=[Windows 2000 LAN Manager] tar: dumped 56781 files and directories Total bytes written: 9800680960 write_data: write failure. Samba integration with AD
I know this question has been posed over and over (and over) again, but I'm at my wit's end. I've dug into the Samba docs, Gentoo specific docs, and PAM docs, and Googled the heck out of it... In any event, I'm running Gentoo 2006.0 (just built) running kernel 2.6.15 and Samba 3.0.21b. I'm 'trying' to set up a simple file server with SSO capabilities to a 2K AD

syslinux 6.03pre17 + gpxelinux.0 + iso from http not working
Hello, I am running Debian testing x64 and have manually installed the 6.03pre17 deb packages for extlinux, pxelinux, syslinux, syslinux-common, syslinux-stuff and syslinux-utils. I have a working tftpd-hpa 5.2-18 PXE system and can boot PCs to it. All .c32 binaries, gpxelinux.0 and memdisk are from the Debian packages and everything works except for http/https sources of ISOs. I have tried both

syslinux 6.03pre17 + gpxelinux.0 + iso from http not working
Ady, I had not previously tried three slashes, but have now. No difference unfortunately. I've also tried using the web server on the same machine as the PXE server and using 'http://127.0.0.1/Software/Util1.iso' as the URL, again to no avail. It appears not to be able to connect to anything via http or https. Presumably it uses network settings (such as the gateway) provided by the

Unexpected IP resolution
hi! Sorry in advance if I am not on the right mailing-list and sorry if my question is cover somewhere is doc (I didn't find anything). The result from nmblookup (same result on all platform) for a given samba server isn't what I expect. The key part of my smb.conf is: [global] netbios name = ourserver2 netbios aliases = ourserverdev ourserverlab ourserver name

Copy to smb share fails with "invalid argument" on CentOS 7
Hi, I've had problems copying files to Windows shares from my CentOS 7 machine lately. I originally got this in the desktop file manager, but find that I can also reproduce using gvfs-copy. "cp" to the directory mounted by gvfs works just fine, on the other hand. Also, the problem does not occur with small files - I think anything below 64k is OK. The following command sequence

Mountpoint problems...
Hi, Ok. clarification of terms here. A mountpoint is simply what is used to differenciate one stream from another. It doesn't physically exist until it is created by a source connecting to it, and unless you want to handle it differently from any other mountpoint, there's no need to define it anywhere except in the source client. Here's an example (a simple one). You and I

Mountpoint problems...
Re: [Icecast] Alright, basically I want to be able to broadcast a single stream of what my Winamp is currently playing, so instead of having to send people a song, they can just tune into my radio. All attempts I've made result in them not being able to connect and my Winamp to stutter when it plays mp3's. Even on lower bitrate settings, it still makes my songs stutter. On Thu, 10 Mar

inbound SIP funnies
Hi, I've a few working asterisk servers, all seeing the same symptom, but they are all based on the same configs. A SIP inbound INVITE message is coming in to an extension (not a peer) eg 555 at ourserver.com A tcpdump clearly shows the INVITE coming in, but asterisk seems to be ignoring it (theres no reply outbound packet). All the source/dest IPs and ports look good. A

Might this be related to the Linux version? I'm testing on one of our university servers, and they tend to be deprived of regular updates sometimes... (Dirk, sorry for sending you this twice.) > Sys.info() sysname "Linux" release

how to enable PowerDNS/Weakforced with Fedora and sendmail
So for auth_policy_server_api_header. is the value of our_password come from the hashed response or the plain-text password? What else am I doing wrong? Why isn't Samba honouring UNIX permissions? [NOT PROTECTIVELY MARKED]
Classification: NOT PROTECTIVELY MARKED Solaris 9 Samba 3.4.5 I know this isn't the sort of query that gets much response but I'd be really grateful of any advice people can offer. I'm getting really fed up with Samba as I've never been able to make it work properly. Either I'm missing something basic (probably) or it just doesn't behave in the way I think it should!
