Having temp mdbox files, what to do with them?
Can I delete these because doveadm is only purging from source, when it is confirmed they are correctly at the destination? Userdb userdb_mail=, error Mailbox list driver maildir++: maildir_name not supported by this driver
With this setting, all folders are empty, I guess understandable, because the mdbox has its own indexes stored locally with it. Does not explain though why inbox is empty. [@ dovecot]# cat special-userdb test:x:8267:231:Account with special settings for dovecot:/home/popusers/test:/bin/false:userdb_mail=mdbox:~/mdbox:INBOX=/ var/spool/mail/%u:INDEX=/var/dovecot/%u/index With this setting

Userdb userdb_mail=, error Mailbox list driver maildir++: maildir_name not supported by this driver
I have this default configuration [0], when use the userdb_mail to point to the mdbox location, the inbox subfolders show differently in a firebird client. So I decided to copy the whole default mail_location into the userdb_mail configuration [2]. But then I get errors [3]. Should I change the namespace configuration here, how? My default namespaces are inbox and 4archives [0] [@ ]#

problem getting mail from mbox
I'm trying to set up dovecot and I'm running into a few problems. I just want to use IMAP for one user, everyone else gets POP3 from the existing (working server). $MAIL is set to /var/spool/mail/gavin_imap In my /var/spool/mail directory I now have a problem: -rw------- 1 gavin_im mail 1392 Oct 14 22:28 gavin_imap -rw------- 1 gavin_im popusers 0 Oct 14 21:54

creating directories not specified in '--files-from' file
Hi all, I use 'rsync' in my backup program and I've run into an annoying bug. If I specify a directory to be backed up all files in it are copied automatically. This is a problem because a user may have selected specifically to not backup a given file. Also if a subdirectory exists in a specified directory it is also copied though do data below it is. I call 'rsync'

Outlook 2013/2010 nightmare #2
Hi All and my sincere thanks to Jakob and Joseph for your responses. I got around the nightmare for this site but it is far from satisfactory and given both Thunderbird, Roundcube and the Android e-mail client work perfectly as expected, this following links comments enforce what I experienced over the weekend: http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.mail.imap.dovecot/79231 I have not struck this

Outlook 2013/2010 nightmare #2
Yes Eric, Outlook also has a declaration that as of either version 2010 or 2013, they no longer download IMAP headers, they download the whole message - thank God for faster Internet connections these days - could you imagine that in the older dialup days? Still it is a waste of bandwidth and disk space to do this. I am so tired of how they claim to use the RFC and indicate they are

How to unset namespace configuration from dovecot.conf in conf.d/99-cutom.conf?
Dear all, my /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf [0] that is shipped with the Linux distro (Ubuntu 18.04, dovecot 2.3.10) has a namespace section: namespace inbox { ... mailbox Sent { ... } ... } I need to remove this whole section from the configuration, but I need to do this in a file such as /etc/dovecot/conf.d/99-custom.conf because I want this modification to be stable against
