Authentication lost within session
Hmmm, strange my limits.conf is still default empty. I also reverted back to the orginal dovecot pam.d file, and still the same. Is dovecot indeed then giving this password mismatch on max logins? I have been testing quite a lot lately without noticing this. The only thing I can remember changing recently was enabling shmkey of slapd and tuning settings in nscd. -----Original Message-----

Local lmtp proxy on backend server
I added this: passdb { driver = passwd skip = authenticated } Which enables indeed local delivery, I also noticed this. Maybe the password field check shoud not be done, when you enable skip authentication? Dovecot proxy with ldap, complains about 'host not given'

Lightweight LMTP daemon to avoid overkill MTA
I ended up 'hacking' LMTP support into the external spam filter. Someone else already contributed 'real' patches to implement LMTP support, so once I go live with this mail platform it should be stable. sftp and utmp
Hi, We need to limit concurrent sftp logins to one per user (because of bad client behaviour). Is there any way to achieve this I have overlooked? It seems it could be possible with pam_limits, if sftp sessions were recorded in utmp (a guess from what I found googling around). If I configure /etc/security/limits.conf with testuser hard maxlogins 1 and connect with ssh, and try a second

Lightweight LMTP daemon to avoid overkill MTA
Hi, I was unclear in my question. The spam filter is only able to deliver mail over SMTP, not over LMTP.. So I would still need some kind of daemon that listens for SMTP and then offers incoming email to Dovecot's LMTP socket. :) I really starting to feel a bit like an idiot, but all these 3 configs[0] give error 'Client not compatible with this binary' [0] service health-check { executable = script /bin/health-check.sh inet_listener health-check { port = 5001 } } service health-check { executable = script -e "HOME PATH" /bin/health-check.sh inet_listener health-check { port =

Looking for a guide to collect all e-mail from the ISP mail server
you should ask your ip provider to set a proper reverse lookup for you. If I would get a lot of spam from upcloud.host ips, I would also consider blocking upcloud.host reverse dns lookups. If it is your ip, it is an easy request to have it changed. -----Original Message----- From: Sami Ketola [mailto:sami at ketola.io] Sent: Monday, October 26, 2020 11:22 AM To: lists Cc: Arjen de Korte;

Thanks, Markus, maybe we should add this to the admin_manual? I can't yet use -p, the version I have is not supporting it still :( Maybe it is better to wait until alpine linux updates the package. -----Original Message----- Subject: RE: Health check curl example No worries. Now you are not using the passthrough(-p) mode. That is why dovecot is telling you that your client is not compatible. Using "script" without -p would require you

making Samba works together with PAM
Ok fellows, This is my last try. Please, anybody tell me if something is missing on this list! I need to setup on a Linux + Samba (PDC) to restrict just one login per ID (not allow two logins with same id).So: 1 - edit /etc/pam.d/samba -> chaging session line with session required /lib/security/pam_limits.so 2 - in /etc/security/limits.conf: * - maxlogins 1 3 - in smb.conf:

handling spam from gmail.
Yes tell that to the people that create rhel6, rhel7 and rhel8 and give lts support. Unless google pays you to train your software to mark their messages as spam, you might want to consider yourself not to smart as well ;) My solution would solve the problem others create (see the other mail). Your solution wastes your time and will always be carrying water to the sea. I think if 50% of
