Message-id parsing by sieve
Hi, I'm using Dovecot for my mail with pigeonhole's sieve extension, from debian stable (2.3.4.1 (f79e8e7e4)). One of the sieve stanzas that I use is for duplicate elimination: if duplicate { discard; stop; } This mostly works fine, but I seem to have trouble with some messages that come from certain domains where duplicates are not eliminated. >From

DKIM fail if WHM adds Message-ID, should be Message-Id
I created a client library to send emails for a webapp. After connecting to the SMTP server with credential setup in CPANEL, and then do NOT add Message-Id header, the DKIM signature 'h' record created by dovecot/WHM is wrong, and a Message-ID (with a capital D) header is added, invalidating the generated DKIM signature value. This causes outlook, yahoo, gmail and other email

lda: Warning: Failed to parse return-path header: Invalid character in localpart
Hello, Sometimes, when delivering mails, this warning appears in my syslog: > lda(...): Warning: Failed to parse return-path header: Invalid character in localpart dovecot-lda still exits with 0 and the mail is inserted into my inbox. Looking at the mails in question, I determined that the error is caused by a multiline Return-Path header. Here's a testcase: --- snip ---

Another address-spec problem
I've had complaints from users about "MISSING_DOMAIN" in header fields and I've tracked it down to having "." in an unquoted display name. By my reading of RFC2822 (especially section 4.1) A N Other <a.n.other at somewhere.org> "A. N. Other" <a.n.other at somewhere.org> are legal, but A. N. Other <a.n.other at somewhere.org> is

Auto MX Email Client configuration, the right way?
Hi Friends! An opinion. I would like to facilitate the configuration of one's mail client (desktop or mobile) to my users server. Some time ago I asked the same question and you suggested me to use "Automx". So I started of good will and I looked for the Automx documentation. And here the problems started as I found several inconsistencies, even parameters (in official

Released Pigeonhole v0.3.0 for Dovecot v2.1.0
Hello Dovecot users, Now that Dovecot v2.1.0 is out there, I release Pigeonhole v0.3.0. The most significant new features are support for the Sieve editheader extension and the sieve-filter tool. I haven't received much feedback on these new features, which can either mean that they are mostly bug-free or that not many people have tried these, so these are still considered experimental.

Bug#489172: logcheck: please add Auto-Submitted header field to mailouts
Package: logcheck Version: 1.2.54 Severity: wishlist Please add the header "Auto-Submitted: auto-generated" to mails generated by logcheck. This header should be supported by many email autoresponders and should prevent the need to set up logcheck specific rules for "vacation"-type autoresponders. Headers can be added in mail using the -a switch, e.g. mail -a

DMARC Considerations
Maybe this[1] page, option 3.C. That strikes me as attractive, if only the mailing-list software can easily support it. (Or be hacked to support it; I'm willing to try.) Or, the "From" could be the mailing-list, the "Reply-To" could be the author, then the "CC" could be the mailing-list plus original "CC" addresses. If someone hits the

ProxyCommand that creates identity file
Hi there, I'm working on a project to write a ProxyCommand that reaches out to an SSH CA to receive an SSH certificate prior to the connection. The ProxyCommand also creates a tunnel to the upstream SSH server. When using ProxyCommand alone, the issue is that the identity files are loaded as soon as SSH has fork/exec'd the process. It does not wait for a valid server negotiation. I

Request: option to hide user IP/HELO content from mail sent via submissiond
For reasons of user privacy and security I usually configure submission servers to not include accurate IP address and HELO information of authenticated users. (Usually replacing it with a private-use domain / IPv6 address.) Dovecot submission (2.3.2) will produce a header something like this (where ?10.22.36.10" is a public IP address) Received: from [192.168.1.184] ([10.22.36.10]) by

Finishing up the contributors list as well
Guys, OK, now that we have the new core contributors squared away, we can go back to finishing the contributors list. There were some people who got added and then there is existing contributors list. I think Darren''s suggestion to wait to add new core contributors is fine (let the new constitution settle down and we can in the meanwhile have a more inclusive look at both rather than

"LAPACK routine DGESDD gave error code -12" with Debian (PR#2822)
Dear All, Under Debian GNU/Linux La.svd (with method = "dgesdd") sometimes gives the error "Error in La.svd(data, nu = 0, nv = min(nrow, ncol), method = "dgesdd") : LAPACK routine DGESDD gave error code -12" It seems not to depend on the data per se, but on the relationship between numbers of rows and columns. For example, if the number of columns is 100,
