Errors with missing links to files when using Single Instance Storage and zlib (Dovecot 2.3.4)
I'm running Dovecot 2.3.4 with Single Instance Storage (SIS) and zlib and I am frequently seeing errors where files are missing in the attachments directory even though the zipped file in the hash directory is actually there.? This appears not to have been an issue in Dovecot 2.3.1 Requested output of the server below. The error looks like this in the log Dec 18 08:58:58 dovecot01

Recovering expunged but not purged e-mails from mdbox with zlib compression
You can use mdbox_deleted driver to access mails with refcount 0. Recovering expunged but not purged e-mails from mdbox with zlib compression
Yesterday I had to recover an e-mail which a user had deleted. If I understand this correctly the message was expunged but not purged (doveadm purge had not been run). This e-mail was clearly still in the mdbox stored with zlib compression as I could tell using the doveadm dump command (doveadm dump -t dbox filename). I could however not reveal the e-mail with the normal doveadm fetch -u

Dovecot: Mails flagged as read get flagged as unread
Hi all We experience some unexpected behavior with dovecot. It happens that emails marked as read get marked as unread (MUA is Thunderbird on port 143). Unfortunately this happens randomly, reproducing this issue is difficult. We could not find any pattern, it happens rarely. We are running dovecot version 2.2.24 on Debian Jessie (backports repository). /root at dovecot01:~# dovecot --version//

imap process and indexer-worker crash while creating folders
Hi, our dovecot processes sometimes crash when we create new folders. The "imap" process and the "indexer worker" process is crashing. We can reproduce this, we have a java program with multiple threads, and sometimes 2 threads try to create the same folder for the same user, and if both collide, dovecot processes crash. We don't see this happening in the real world if

Unexpected accounts showing up in replication status (doveadm replicator status '*')
I have a replication set up with two dovecot 2.3.4 servers. Messages appear to be replicating fine between them, however there is an oddity when I run doveadm replicator status '*' and I'm worried work is being carried out needlessly. Both machines have identical configs and have a mysql backend for username/passwords.? Both machines point to the same mysql server and same

Single instance storage - testing please
http://hg.dovecot.org/dovecot-2.0-sis contains the code for it. Otherwise it's the latest (as of writing this) dovecot-2.0 hg tree. Please test if you're interested in SIS. :) Once there's at least some testing, I'll probably add this to v2.0.x since very little of this new code is used when SIS is disabled (which is the default of course). SIS works pretty much like explained in

I'm still having issues with the combination of mdbox, sis, and zlib. Is anyone else using these without seeing any errors in the logs? -- Daniel

Error logs with virtual folder after upgrading to 2.3.4
If you are using systemd, you might want to create /etc/systemd/system/service.dovecot.d/override.conf with ProtectSystem=no if you want writable /etc directory. > On 28 November 2018 at 18:49 Maria Arrea <maria-arrea at gmx.com> wrote: > > > Since I upgraded to 2.3.4 I have lots of line in logs like these: > > Nov 28 17:35:48 buzalum_rhel7 dovecot: imap(iniramgon

"doveadm altmove -r" not working ?
Hello, I have some trouble using "doveadm altmove -r". Regular "doveadm altmove" is OK, selected mails were moved to alternate storage as expected. But I can't manage to get them back to original location, "doveadm altmove -r" has no effect. We are using Dovecot 2.3.4 (Debian Buster package). mail_location =

"doveadm altmove -r" not working ?
Hi, Your problem might be similar to mine a long time ago. IMO behavior of "doveadm altmove -r" command with mdbox format is different to sdbox format: - With sdbox format, when you move back a message to primary storage (aka default storage), only the message and the file containing it are affected. There is nothing impacted. - With mdbox format, a file in storage contains

Quota count does not work with lock_method=dotlock
Hello, dovecot crashes when I switch the quota tracking from dict to count. The following is working since years: quota = dict:User quota::proxy::quota I'm using a mysql quota dictionary. Now I want to switch to the new "quota count" + "quota clone" combination. I'm loading the "quota_clone" plugin, and: #quota = dict:User quota::proxy::quota

Question about samba servers
I have one samba server as the PDC for our org. Another samba server is supposed to permit access to shares based on authentication from the aforementioned PDC. I'll call this second computer "SMB" for simplicity. PDC has an LDAP and PAM database for authenticating all users. SMB is setup as follows (smb.conf): workgroup = NPC-USA netbios name = SMB server string = %h server

Conditional distribution plot using Model-based Recursive Partitioning
Hello, I am using the party module to estimate the relationship between the probability of being a student and number of siblings (alive). However, I need to include a number of relevant covariates. My code is below: fm3 <- mob(Student ~ age + alive + sex2 + cwa + cha + cym | Religion+Servant + Literacy, control = ctrl, data = samp2, model = glinearModel, family =binomial()) plot(fm3, tp_args

Configuration advice needed.
Hello, First, thanks for this great piece of software. I'm new to dovecot and i've just converted my old courier configuration on pop/imap server side, everithing is working just fine on this side and speed gain expected was found (not enough for our busy servers :). Setup is done with 3 dovecot virtual servers load balanced with a Hardware load balancer (this part is a big point of the
