Dovecot not surviving OpenLDAP restart
Hi!
Running Dovecot 2.2.36 and authenticating against
an OpenLDAP 2.4.45 server.
Now since some update of dovecot it will not be able to authenticate
your logins after a restart of the LDAP service is restarted
without a reboot of the dovecot server.
Anything new here that I should be aware of?
Best Regards

Dovecot not surviving OpenLDAP restart
One more obvious line from the log:
dovecot[26621]: auth: Error: LDAP: Connection lost to LDAP server,
reconnecting
Where it claims to reconnect, but after that there is no
LDAP authentication.
And the same configuration has worked fine since at least 10 years ago
up to some recent update of dovecot or openldap.

Failback mailboxes?
Hi!
Have been using Fedora as my dovecot server for
some time and am struggling with systemd
at every update.
Fedora insists on setting
ProtectSystem=full in both dovecot.service and postfix.service
at every update of the packages.
This makes my mailstore which is in /usr/local/var/mail
Read-only.
And this makes the incoming emails delivered through
dovecot-lda disappear into /dev/null until I

Hi all!
Just setting up a cluster using Centos 7
We have a desperate need for TPM support and:
1. Tried the "standard" distro install. linvirt supports
TPM passthrough but kvm-qemu barfs:
"unsupported configuration: The QEMU executable /usr/libexec/qemu-kvm does not support TPM backend type passthrough"
2. The activated the qemu-ev repo and updated qemu-kvm to version

Just verified after a lengthy compilation of the kernel
that the patch really works and now I can see a TPM on
the virtual side!

virsh support for TPM?
Hi again!
Succeeded in creating vtpmmgr-stubdom.gz from
the source RPM with some shortcuts.
ow the next problem seems to be that the
libvirt we have will not support the XEN vtpm:s
For example:
virsh dumpxml <vm-machine>
will not contain any info on the vtpm :-(
Am I really the first one around with a need for
TPM support in the VM:s ??

boot cdrom -w doesn''t work
I have a Sun Blade 2500 running nv_88. I want to install nv_94 with a mirrored zfs root filesystem. At the ok prompt, I entered boot cdrom -w so that I would get the test installer and could select zfs as the root filesystem. Unfortunately, I got the GUI installer and can not select a zfs root.
I udated the OBP to the current level on the chance that the older rev was the cause. No joy. Any

samba-ad restart fails occasionally
Hi,
We are running sernet samba, and on one particular DC (debian 7.11,
samba 4.5.6), when logrotate is ready rotating, "sernet-samba-ad
restart" fails with:

Problems with Shorewall 2.2 on Fedora FC3
I installed Shorewall 2.2.2 on a vanilla install of Fedora FC3 I have not
udated the kernel yet. After some fault finding I went back to the 2
interface example configuration files for 2.2.2.
In shorewall.conf I have to specify the path for IPTABLES="/sbin". If I
leave this commented out then shorewall reports that it cannot find
iptables. When I have this line in shorewall will

logrotate.d - reload vs restart
Looking at some of the stuff in /etc/logrotate.d, I see entries like this in
some of the configuration files:
postrotate
/sbin/service privoxy reload 2> /dev/null || true
>From the commandline, that doesn't work:
# /sbin/service privoxy reload 2> /dev/null || true
Usage: /etc/init.d/privoxy {start|stop|restart}
Changing reload to restart does work:

What to back up from a mdbox
Hi
short question to the list:
- What parts of a mdbox mail store directory can I leave out from my backup?
I can see huge *.cache files for eample. Can these be rebuilt?
- Can dovecot recover from a backup "on the fly"?

We need a patch in the kernel for tpm
Hi!
Think I found a reference to the problem(s) I am seeing with
xen-tpmfront in my setup on the net:
https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/9485637/
This patch has not been officially entered and it is not
included in the kernel provided in SIG virt either
Can we please get it in ?
