[mail-crypt-plugin] Password Query for Folder Keys questions
So I believe I generated a key successfully with:
'doveadm mailbox cryptokey generate -u user -UR' because I got the output with the check mark and the Public ID string of characters.
However I still can't read the CRYPTED emails when logging in with IMAP.. i'm still getting the following error in the mail log:
Error: read() failed: read(/var/vmail/[domain .

folders not visible on copied mail folders
Shortly after this post, I found a solution here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=1097725
In order to see the .Dennis\ Email.Dennis\ Inbox sub-folder you have to collapse and re-expand
the folder list in Thunderbird. It's that simple ... AND that annoyingly obscure!
Thanks for your help! --Mark

Deduplicate not processing all messages - bug?
Hello,
I'm trying to create automated backup recovery using "doveadm import"
and "doveadm deduplicate". During testing I noticed that deduplicate
only deletes some duplicates and has to be called multiple times to find
them all. Here's what I've been trying (in shell commands):
First, expunge inbox (the end result is the same even if you delete only

problem with a public folder
Hello,
Thank you for your response. In answer to your questions I made a file
global-acls containing:
# cat global-acls
Public/general user=user1 at domain.com lrwstipekxa
Public/TestFolder user=user1 at domain.com lrwstipekxa
Public/general user=user1 at domain2.com lrwstipekxa
Public/TestFolder user=user1 at domain2.com lrwstipekxa
Here's the ls -la output:

Lots of zero-byte hard link files in cur (and new/tmp), cannot see messages in folder
Hello,
I have an el-cheapo shared hosting account on Dreamhost, and have had it
for a very long time.
For the most part everything usually works fairly well, considering I do
keep a lot of folders, and mail, on some of my accounts.
They are running dovecot, but still don't have a response as to the
version, or doveconf -n output yet.
My problem is, one of my most used folders, which was

replication fails and corrupts index with zlib enabled
Hi, I have two Debian Jessie servers with Dovecot 2.2.13 TCP replication
on that have worked fine for years, but now one of them is running low
on disk space, so I wanted to try enabling zlib.
I crafted a script following the description given in
https://wiki.dovecot.org/Plugins/Zlib and xz'ed some inboxes on the
stand-by server, the one with low disk space. So every email in those
inboxes

Cyrus to Dovecot migration (OS X Server): Backup + restore messages, live "standby server" and delayed expunge and…
Hi List,
I am very close to migrating from Cyrus to Dovecot (to be more precise
from Mac OS X Server 10.5.8 to 10.6.4).
The latter is reporting the dovecotd version to be 1.1.20apple0.5.
All I have read about dovecot is extremely positive so I am exited to
make the switch.
BACKUP:
BUT I would like to be sure that I can make a sound backup strategy.
For Cyrus i used topicdesk's mailbfr (a

Migrating from external server to Dovecot (doveadm sync issues)
Hi,
I'm experiencing serious issues when using doveadm sync not working at
all or do not properly sync. I wanted to use this for migrating external
mailboxes to my server (in order to overcome the time when some
servers/clients still use the old server and some already the my server).
I tried to find a few steps in order to replicate this:
For testing purposes I simulate both the remote and

doveadm sync backup from old to new server
I struggled with this at one time, and with the lack of examples around the internet. In fact, I might have written this very post myself at one point! In the end, the penny dropped when I saw that the format was
(command on local server) + (stuff you need to connect over ssh) + (command on remote server)
So what worked for me was:
doveadm backup -u user at domain.com \
ssh -p 2222 (+ other

doveadm sync backup from old to new server
I'm not clear myself on the difference myself between
dsync
doveadm sync
doveadm dsync-server
... perhaps someone here can explain? However what worked for me was using doveadm dsync-server on the 'receive' end. Maybe that puts it in 'listen' mode? So maybe try
doveadm backup -u user at abc.net \
ssh root at po.abc.net \
docker exec b3093cxxxxxx doveadm dsync-server -u
