Proxy secured incoming POP3/IMAP4 to unsecure backend?
The port is determined with port=nnn setting. You can't return per-protocol port like that, you need to look at the protocol requested by user and return port based on that, or you can omit port to default into "standard port". not using ssl/starttls is default. > On 17 September 2018 at 16:35 Alexander Chekalin <alexander.chekalin at gmail.com> wrote: > > >

auth process receives the protocol requested when performing authentication as variable %s (see https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Variables) You can use this to choose the value you return for port. Proxy secured incoming POP3/IMAP4 to unsecure backend?
Thank you! Ok, so I can omit ssl=no and startssl=no, and this results in default settings for ssl which is 'off'? Or the defaults are 'on' anyway? Can I somehow specify ports on remote hosts that proxy will use to connect to? Like (just image): 'proxy host_imap=10.1.1.1:143 host_pop=10.1.1.1:110' or somehow? Proxy secured incoming POP3/IMAP4 to unsecure backend?
Seen that URL but port= is strange due to there is no protocol connection. So if I set port=12345 then what proto will I see there? Misleading setting this is why I mentioned (non-existing) per-proto port setting above. May I please ask for any example on how to pass port per proto? It is a bit fuzzy for me to figure it out but I do believe you used to use it somehow. On Mon, Sep 17, 2018 at

Separate access to different "folders" of the same mailbox?
Hello Timo and everyone, I think on such an idea that may save me a bit of space and time: in my company we have a mailbox that holds a copy of every message that our SMTP processed. While it eats a lot of space, it saved us several times when, you may imaging, user "suddenly" deleted the most important message in his life and call our IT guys for help. The mailbox contains

SSL with startssl.com certificates
I'm using Dovecot 2.2.5. I'm setting up and new IMAPS server for personal use (i.e. only me). I have success with self-signed certificates but not with others (e.g. StartSSL.com) With StartSSL certs: I've been able to connect and test commands via: openssl s_client -connect imaps.unixathome.org:993 Can you configure your iPhone or Macbook to access the above? Authentication

OpenSSL
Hello anyone used OpenSSL before? Why do we need to pay for expensive SSL certs when there is OpenSSL which is provided free? Is there a difference? I''ve got an ecommerce website, and wondering if OpenSSL is enough? Please advise on very fast search
Hello, I try to create some kind of mail backup system. What I need is system that will store mail for the whole domain, and allow me to restore messages from/to specified email at that domain. The scheme is pretty simple: on our main mail server the SMTP server itself has a rule to send a copy of every message to 'backup at backupserver.host', and the backupserver.host domain is

Get Me Outta Here! Web site security issue
Hi All, I have a CentOS 5.4 web server. I have some stuff that runs on 443. When I hit https://<the site> The user gets a warning saying that site identity could not be verified and the user can add an exception if they want. How do I stop this from happing? Do I need to buy an SSL cert? Aren't these really expensive per server and I have 5 servers I would need to do this too. Can

No duplicates on imap copy?
Hello, when from my script I try to copy messages from one imap folder into another own (within the same imap mailbox). That works perfectly, but... If I copy the same message N times from one folder into another one, in the destination folder I see N copies of the same message, each with its own UID. I wonder if there any way to deduplicate folder content (so in the destination folder

Hierarchy separator and LAYOUT=FS change
Hello, I stumbled across a 5-year-old post on the dovecot list about changing the dovecot hierarchy separator to enable shared mailboxes (http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2011-January/056201.html <http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2011-January/056201.html>). Unique message IDs?
Hello, I'm working with indexing my mail box. What I need is to have index in which mailing specified header string is located. I work with the messages via IMAP. I know that sounds like FTS can help me but no, I don't want to index whole message nor I want to patch FTS source to make it to index headers only. I need a way to identify message across my mail box. The idea is that I

[PATCH] Fix for client certificate validation does not work
Hi all, As I reported earlier (with a typo in the work [BUG]) client certification validation *does not* work even if you do everything exactly according to all documentation and attempts at helpful advice. I have seen this issue with both startssl.com and self-signed certificates, and based on what I've seen from searching the web, this is a problem that has gotten little attention because

Strange behaviour when add new mailbox to IMAP (v 1.2.13)
Hi, I think I need to ask you for advice. Personally I face that for the first time and hardly imagine this could be possible at all, but... My setup is simple: I have one mail server where all of my mail accounts are stored, and another one to store backup of all mailings. The scheme is simple, SMTP on first server forwards a copy of each message to address catchall at
