Best way to move mail from one server to another
Thanks Sam Users not using new mail server yet. Both old and new using maildir. Sounds like rsync is the way to go. Thanks for your help. James. Best way to move mail from one server to another
If you have lots of data, you can make an initial pass with rsync whilst the old server is running and another rsync pass (with --delete, use dry run to test) when you've shut down the old server to sync the changes since the initial pass. Good luck! Reio On 04/09/2018 11:40, James Brown wrote: > Thanks Sam > > Users not using new mail server yet. > > Both old and new

Hi Sami, Can you expand on this? I used ImapSync to migrate from Dovecot to Office365 a couple of years ago, and didn't notice any issues with it at all.

Hierarchy separator recommendation?
Dear dovecot list, I'm using Maildir as mailbox format. Is there any recommendation for the namespace hierarchy separator? Currently I didn't set any. So it is the default of dot '.' I'm switiching from a rather unknown IMAP Server called DBMail (http://www.dbmail.org/) Planning to synchronize the mailboxes via imapsync (https://github.com/imapsync/imapsync) Is there

Solr, Dovecot & macOS / iOS
I?m thinking of getting Solr working with my Dovecot server. Server is new 6-core Mac Mini, mail store of over 1/2 TB. Mailboxes with 100s of thousands of messages. But I?m not sure if: a) it will make enough of a difference and b) does Mail.app and other mail clients on Macs or iOS devices perform searches on their local copy of mail or does it just send a search request to the server? I?m

This is different thing. This is about managing duplicates on multiple syncs. Imapsync seems to keep track of UID -> MAIL mapping for server A and UID -> MAIL

Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Hi, No, I tried fetching over imapc too exactly as you suggested. In my case it was not from cyrus, but from CriticalPath. isync was finally able to do the job, preserving flags and doing UIDs mapping. The most boring part was generating proper config file for thousands of accounts. A working imapc/dsync would have been better. Emmanuel. Le 26/11/2015 15:24, Sami Ketola a ?crit : > Hi,

Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Hello, Because it did not work ? In a similar situation, we where forced to use isync/mbsync in imap to imap mode because dsync did not work. It was reported here more than a year ago (May 2014). Time to time, I see the same report from other trying to use dsync to do a migration to dovecot. Dsync is a very appealing and elegant solution to this usage, but it does not always work in real
