Installing IceCast 2.4.3 on Centos 7
Morning all, I set up IceCast several years ago on centos 6. seemed
easy, now I am trying to install it on Centos 7.
For the life of me, I cant do it, I have read several STEP by steps on
how to configure, but I am pounding my head against the wall, I am a
Windows IT guy, thus I am looking for a step by step detail way of doing
it. All the examples I find, fail at some point or another. Any

dovecot and postfix, help?
Hi all,
First a disclaimer. I have played with linux off and on for years, but
this is my first time trying to run a server completely on my own from
start to finish, well it's on a vps, but still. I'm pretty techie, but a
lot of this stuff is new to me, so I apologize for any *duh!* questions.
That said, I've so far installed dovecot, postfix, wordpress, and
related programs

Hello,
I am trying to create a function that will move through each record of a data frame, find the value in the "HUC" column, then
randomly select another observation from the dataframe with the same value in "HUC" column, as well as the same value in "Yr" column as the first observation. I want the function to produce a list of the RchID of the first observation,

help with for loop: new column giving count of observation for each SITEID
Hello,
I think this is easy, but I can't seem to find a good way to do this in the R help. I have a list of sites, with multiple years of data for each site id. I want to create a new column that gives a number describing whether it is the 1st year ("1" ) the data was collected for the site, the second year ("2"), etc. I have different years for each siteid, but I don't

R4.1: seq.POSIXt, tz="AEST" (PR#9572)
Times from seq.POSIXt come out wrong in AEST timezone around Feb 29 every
leap year before 1970 (on Windows XP).
According to help(DateTimeClasses), this is handled by "our own C code".

can't send email from my new centos 8
Hello to all!
I apologize in advance, for the following could be too simple, but I can't
figure it out.
I configured a vps using centos 8, all is working fine but I'm not able to
send email from this server.
I tried
$ telnet smtp.mailtrap.io 25 but it doesn't work
yet
$ telnet www.google.ca 80 does work
and particularly
$ telnet smtp.mailtrap.io 2525 does work too.
I temporarily

centos email server suddenly much slower. What to do?
Greetings,
I run my own email server for some domains I administer, on a centos
vps server with a very small number of users.
The only services are smtp, imap/pop, webmail
Everything was running without problems until this morning. I left
home for 1/2 hours, and when I came back everything had become about
100x slower (seriously!). The services were/are still all up and
running, but practically

Compilation errors
I've been trying to compile klibc on my system, so that I can have high
resolution consoles via uvesafb, without conflicting with the NVidia drivers I
need to use to handle hi-def video.
I have tried versions 1.5.20, 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 all without success.
My system is Slackware64-14.0 running kernel 3.6.3 on an AMD quad core
motherboard. GCC version is 4.7.1.
My initial problem was that

releveling a numeric by factor interaction
Can anyone help me with the necessary code to relevel a numeric*factor
interaction term in a linear model? I would like to report the estimate,
std. error and t-value for the reference factor.
First, I estimated a linear model with dummy variables and was able to
retrieve model estimates for the reference factor using relevel.
for example:

First hit on app takes a long time
So, I''ve deployed my first rails app, however I''m the only one hitting
it for now.
I''ve noticed that the first time I hit the app after some long period,
it takes a really long time to respond (2-3 seconds). After that,
it''s very fast.
At first, I thought it might be my VPS "waking up" from some sleep
state, but Rails does log the long load time

bootstrap confidence intervals with previously existing bootstrap sample
Dear R users,
I am new to R. I would like to calculate bootstrap confidence intervals
using the BCa method for a parameter of interest. My situation is this: I
already have a set of 1000 bootstrap replicates created from my original
data set. I have already calculated the statistic of interest for each
bootstrap replicate, and have also calculated the mean for this statistic

Using NFS to extend local email storage
We are running our IMAP mail server on a VPS in the cloud
(dovecot+exim+horde webmail), and we are using our on-premises NAS for
daily backups through custom rsync scripts (which work well with maildir).
There is a lot of storage available on the NAS, while not so much on the
VPS. Since, we often get downtime on-premises due to power outages we
cannot move the mail server on-premises (though the
