wine: /intended/PREFIXdirectory/not owned by you
I am attempting to create a folder for my wineprefixes on my external hard disk. The plan is to symlink to that location from inside my user folder (ie. ~/.wine/PREFIXES -> $iomega/.wineprefixes) For reference: $iomega=/media/Iomega_HDD This is a 400GB external drive with a single NTFS partition. The plan is to create folders for all my WINEPREFIXes at $iomega/.wineprefixes (Example:

embedded vorbis players
Anyone know of any vorbis players more or less the size of an MP3 player - something that will fit in a pocket? Or some projects to make one? I'd be willing to work on putting one together and port vorbis to some embedded processor. Any rough idea of what processor capabilities should be needed for the number crunching (is an FPU necessary, 16/32 bit, speed)? I realize the dev list might be a

USB DIsk and mount point
Hello. I use Centos 4.1 When I inserted my usb 2.0 disk for the first time it created the mount point /media/usbdisk just fine. Which I used to mount the disk. But as soon as I used it in another computer (winxp) when I took the usb back to centos the mount point had become /media/IOMEGA (yeah it's an iomega driver) but then as time goes by, the mount point every time the disk is used

Iomega Zip 100 Problems with "New" ATA
I believe that I'm having some problems with a Zip 100 drive and the "new" (not really so new anymore) ATA driver. I added a Zip and a new CD-R device to a system over the weekend. The BIOS identifies all of the new devices just fine, but when I boot FreeBSD (the only OS on the system), I get to the ATA probes and things lockup (these are from notes, not exact), ad2: READ command

HipZip support?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello vorbis, I know that hipzip/Dadio support was planned - does anyone have any idea what the status of this is due to iomega's discontinuing of the Hipzip product line? Is there any way we can add ogg support to our hipzip's in the future if Interactive Objects adds it to Dadio ? - -- Best regards, Brendan

Mounting Network Storage Issues
I have an Iomega NAS 1TB drive that I am using as just kind of a file sharing solution between all of my computers. Of course it is on a timed backup with my server however it just serves as a temporary solution for a bigger problem ( IE 15 different puters of all various OS Flavors). However I am not able to connect to any network storage server such as Windows PC's or NAS Storage using map

Command line logging program suggestions?
I am looking for an app that would run from the terminal and would emulate a bash shell (or pass everything to the shell) that would allow me to set a log file and then record all my input and the output to the screen from the commands. As an added bonus if it would allow me to run it from two terminals (or more) on the same machine and log all the input and output to the same file while still

Wireless networking in CentOS 4.4
Trying to set up wireless networking with CentOS 4.4 on a (new Dell) laptop and have looked at http://www.ces.clemson.edu/linux/fc2- ipw2200.shtml and http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php? topic_id=2532&forum=30 regarding use of ipw2200, which is included in the kernel. The problem is that it doesn't appear to be actually installed/loaded because the Intel Corporation

Radeon 9000 breaks with CentOS 4.4
Dell Inspiron 600M w/ Radeon 9000 card. This worked with CentOS 4.3, also works with Knoppix 4.0.2. Graphical installation succeeds, but upon reboot, and all subsequent rebbots, graphical mode does not work, the screen becomes black. In addition to the 2.6.9-42 kernel, we have also tried the 2.6.9-42.0.2 kernel. Same problem exists on both kernel. Running system-config-display --reconfig

Autofs and mount/umount entries in the nfs server logs
I am using autofs for a number of machines connecting nfs shares. All the mount and unmount log entries on the server are being saved to /var/log/messages currently. This is becoming a bit of a pain because as the number of hosts increase and various monitoring scripts check to be sure that they have access to the nfs shares it is filling up messages on the nfs server. I would like to continue

Entry server hardware
Hello, I would like some advice on a SATA RAID controller that is able to work in a 32 bit/33mhz PCI slot. I have been looking for a while but all I can find is 64 bit cards that cost over $300. I just need it to mirror 2 drives, and of course work in Centos 4.2. I am not looking for RAID 5 or anything like that. All the cards I find that would do this are fakeraid. Also, has anyone used

I/O errors when backing up from ext3 to UDF
Hi. I'm trying to back up from an ext3 filesystem to an IOMega Rev USB cartridge drive, which uses a UDF filesystem. It appears to the system as /dev/scd0, but can be mounted in R/W mode. I get a bunch of errors like this: rsync: mkstemp "/media/usb/backup_dir/home/support/data-old/clipart/STANDARD/STDDIR3/.PE01617_.WMF.M9ACqm" failed: Input/output error (5) There are
