Dovecot sieve pigeonhole permission
Hello, I'm running dovecot in a classical vmail.vmail setup with pigeonhole and LMTP. Permission worked well in the initial setup but currently (maybe after Fedora 22 update) I'm having the following permission issue: lmtp(root): Error: 7fPZFOL9wFXePQAABcdabc: sieve: binary open: failed to open: open(/etc/dovecot/sieve_after.svbin) failed: Permission denied (euid=9999(vmail)

Sieve permissions issue following update
I recently updated dovecot and my sieve filters stopped working. Checking the logs I see: Dec 9 00:09:59 mailhost dovecot: lda(gessel at domain.com): Error: sieve: binary save: failed to create temporary file: open(/usr/local/etc/dovecot/sieve/10-move-spam.svbin.mailhost.domain.com.114.) failed: Permission denied (euid=5000(vmail) egid=5000(vmail) missing +w perm: /usr/local/etc/dovecot/sieve,

Sieve permissions issue following update
It has been running flawlessly for quite some time until the update. Global scripts were compiled: /usr/local/etc/dovecot/sieve # ls 10-move-spam.sieve 10-move-spam.svbin However, I ran sievec again and tried saving a modified script and got the same: shiofuki dovecot: lda(gessel at blackrosetech.com): Error: sieve: binary save: failed to create temporary file:

sievec - manual compile of global sieve scripts?
How do you compile global scripts using the sievec command without making the script directory owned (and group writable) by the vmail user? http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Pigeonhole/Sieve/Usage # cd /etc/dovecot/sieve/before/ # (edit some script like spam.sieve that runs for everyone) # /usr/local/bin/sievec spam.sieve spam.svbin sievec(root): Error: sieve: binary save: failed to create temporary

drwx-----x kunal kunal Storage I'm guessing this point is being more restrictive. Can you try changing this into 0755? Also suddenly you are no longer using vmail but random user IDs. This only works with vmail. Aki > On 25 February 2019 19:56 Kunal A. <kunal.oa at gmail.com> wrote: > > > Hi, > Yes. Output ;- > > dr-xr-xr-x root root / > drwxr-xr-x root

Dear Aki, Many thanks for your feedback. Its what I figured I should do but I was not sure how safe it was. Would it make sense to execute the following to /run/media/computer so that the user/group is vmail? sudo chown -R vmail:vmail to the /run folder ? Also if this practice is safe to perform? I can create, edit, and save scripts from both the Thunderbird sieve extension as well as the Roundcube sieve plugin via managesieve running on port 4190. The .sieve file is properly saved in ~/sieve with a symlink from ~/.dovecot.sieve. But the filters are not
