Sendmail Dovecot Trouble
/var/mail is a symlink to /var/spool/mail
I tried both, neither works.
I just wiped out the server, reinstalled from scratch this time I
selected e-mail server while selecting packages after specifying
GUI-server on the CentOS install.
I had previously installed Dovecot after the initial server build.
This time Dovecot was installed and active at boot but still can't find

Sendmail Dovecot Trouble
Having reinstalled CentOS 7 including e-mail server in initial software
configuration it installed Postfix/Dovecot.
I've been using Sendmail for 20 years and no experience with Postfix.?
Looked in Webmin -> servers -> Postfix and specified Maildir, changed
the 10-mail.conf to specify
mail_location = maildir:~/Maildir
and everything's working.
Thanks for help.

Proxy secured incoming POP3/IMAP4 to unsecure backend?
auth process receives the protocol requested when performing authentication as variable %s (see https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Variables)
You can use this to choose the value you return for port.

Proxy secured incoming POP3/IMAP4 to unsecure backend?
Seen that URL but port= is strange due to there is no protocol connection.
So if I set port=12345 then what proto will I see there? Misleading setting
this is why I mentioned (non-existing) per-proto port setting above.
May I please ask for any example on how to pass port per proto? It is a bit
fuzzy for me to figure it out but I do believe you used to use it somehow.

Sendmail Dovecot Trouble
I've been struggling trying to get Thunderbird to read e-mail off a
CentOS 7 server.
Sendmail writes mail in /var/spool/mail
I've configured dovecot to try to read from there using Thunderbird
(POP3/SMTP).
The firewall allows ports 25/110.
I verified I have mail in /var/spool/mail
but Thunderbird is unable to retrieve that mail.
I've googled sendmail / dovecot config, I've

Proxy secured incoming POP3/IMAP4 to unsecure backend?
Thank you!
Ok, so I can omit ssl=no and startssl=no, and this results in default
settings for ssl which is 'off'? Or the defaults are 'on' anyway?
Can I somehow specify ports on remote hosts that proxy will use to connect
to? Like (just image): 'proxy host_imap=10.1.1.1:143 host_pop=10.1.1.1:110'
or somehow?

The port is determined with port=nnn setting. You can't return per-protocol port like that, you need to look at the protocol requested by user and return port based on that, or you can omit port to default into "standard port".
not using ssl/starttls is default.

Help on CRAM-MD5
Hi Emanuel,
I understand what you said.
Users have access to SSL and TLS so it's fine, it's their options to use or not.
Thanks for the help from all,

Urgent Help required
Hi Aki,
Am I able to install (2.3 version) on RHEL 6.10 or RHEL 7.7 versions? Will
there be any issues?
I know RHEL 6.10 is out of support in November. But I want to understand
and try in my test environment.
Is it possible?
thanks,
Kishore

Upgrade to 2.3.1 has failed
Alexander, Thanks, as described before, if I include the "<" then
Dovecot fails to start at all.
Thank you again for your time. I have forwarded my latest to Aki to the
group.
Enjoy your weekend.
Best regards, Andy

You again broke your setup. From your pastebin:
ssl_cert = /etc/certbot/live/privustech.com/fullchain.pem
That's missing the "<" in front of the path to the certificate file.
Proably the same mistake for the ssl_key parameter.

how to enable PowerDNS/Weakforced with Fedora and sendmail
In weakforced you have
webserver("0.0.0.0:8084", "THIS-IS-THE-PASSWORD-FOR-WFORCE")
Thus, you make the base64 blob as
~$ echo -n wforce:THIS-IS-THE-PASSWORD-FOR-WFORCE | base64
d2ZvcmNlOlRISVMtSVMtVEhFLVBBU1NXT1JELUZPUi1XRk9SQ0U=
And in dovecot you put
auth_policy_server_api_header = Authorization Basic d2ZvcmNlOlRISVMtSVMtVEhFLVBBU1NXT1JELUZPUi1XRk9SQ0U

[Fwd: Re: Upgrade to 2.3.1 has failed]
Alexander hi.
Aki caught the STARTTLS issue as well, I corrected it, but it still
doesn't work.
Enjoy your weekend. I intend to enjoy mine!
:-)
Thanks again for your time.

Help on CRAM-MD5
Hello,
The world is not black or white.
Yes CRAM-MD5 is old and his successor SCRAM-XXXXXX is not widely
available/implemented which is sad.
For your need, use TLS and forget about it.
Thunderbird is conservative. If you don't configure TLS or TLS is not
available, it try to use something that not expose the password.
There is plenty of context where TLS is not possible/desirable.

Read the quota_exceeded_message from a file
Hello,
I've tried that (i.e. the < redirect) as described in the wiki, tried with
different spaces , and it didn't work, thus the email to the mailing list.
the text there is simply absent in the email that is sent out. on a side
note, I've tried to use file in /tmp/test and the behavior is funny, I get:
doveconf: Fatal: Error in configuration file
