This sounds more like misconfiguration to me. Can you provide doveconf -n and full output of namei -vl /full/path/to/mailbox ---Aki TuomiDovecot oy -------- Original message --------From: Yves Goergen <nospam.list at unclassified.de> Date: 19/05/2018 18:51 (GMT+02:00) To: Dovecot Mailing List <dovecot at dovecot.org> Subject: Re: Cannot delete folder The issue still exists. Assuming '8' = mail, i cannot see anything wrong here... Can you turn on 'mail_debug=yes' and attempt folder deletion, and check logs after that? I guess you have had different version(s) or setting(s) in the past, and you can probably fix this by setting perms to same as the new folders. Long delays when deleting a message in inbox
Which log would you suggest? There's nothing for these times in mail.log, messages and syslog. Shorted lines a bit so they'd fit w/o extra lines between them using: (get rid of text before permissions, and shorten user/group to a few letter) find . -type d -ls|sed -r

Long delays when deleting a message in inbox
Hi, Since recently, there's a long delay when deleting any message from my inbox folder. This affects deleting and moving messages, but only the inbox of a single mailbox. The delay is a few seconds. Other operations work instantly. The server is Ubuntu 14.04 running Dovecot version "1:2.2.9-1ubuntu2". The filesystem is local ext4. My MUA is Thunderbird on Windows, latest

I couldn't find anything relevant between all the debug log lines. Is that in /var/log/mail.log? Here's the lines I think are related to creating and deleting the folder: > May 21 10:36:14 mond2 dovecot: imap(yg@****.de): Debug: Namespace : /var/mail/virtual/****.de/yg/.Test doesn't exist yet, using default permissions > May 21 10:36:14 mond2 dovecot: imap(yg@****.de): Debug:

userdb lookup not possible with only userdb prefetch
Hello, I am setting up a new server and migrating my Dovecot 1.2.9 config to the new 2.2.9 version. There wasn't much to keep from the old version so I had to recreate the config from scratch. Now I think I'm done but I can't login to IMAP. The log says this: > dovecot: auth: Error: prefetch(box@****.de,2001:****:7765,<bzAOP5QJXwAgAQpgEAXJAZyOMB1qBXdl>): userdb lookup not

The issue still exists. Can anybody explain to me why dovecot creates IMAP folders with the wrong filesystem permissions? Every new folder that I create in the mailbox through Thunderbird (IMAP) has the wrong permission and cannot be deleted anymore. This looks like a dovecot bug to me. -Yves ________________________________________ Von: Yves Goergen Gesendet: Di, 2018-03-06 20:55 +0100 Hi

How to create sent items, drafts and so on
Koshiro, --- Now, I changed Outlook setting of imap and I can see Draft, Trash, Sent and Sent Messages folders and I can see the mail files in there. However, I don't see mail files in the "cur or new" folder where is under .Sent Messages folder. --- Maybe Outlook isn't going to upload all old pre-existing Sent (etc) messages to server just from your setting the right server

IMAP namespace and Courier migration
Hello, the migration guide from Courier-IMAP to Dovecot says that I should change the folders namespace to "INBOX." if I want a seamless migration. Isn't it that e-mail clients determine that namespace automatically? At least I never needed to enter one in Thunderbird and then it was there. What happens if I copy the database, all the Maildir files, run the migration script to

cur folder e-mails are not shown...
Hi All! I realized that I have only e-mails from last 13 days. I see that I have lots more in the cur folder inside my Maildir folder. The problem is that I cannot see them. INBOX folders disappeared after upgrading
Hi, tried to Google/etc to see what to tweak.. not finding anything helpful. So.. I've been running my private mail through a Linux server since approx year 2000. The OS has been various flavors of Fedora or CentOS, since for work, I have to spend all day supporting some sort of Red Hat flavor. So I run SquirrelMail on top of Dovecot and Postfix on CentOS 7, things have been great for like

IMAP Folders Don't Make Sense
I noticed for some reason that I am missing an IMAP folder called 'Symantec' that was under my Inbox. I see all my other folders listed on my mail client except 'Symantec'. I then login to my mail server which runs Postfix / Dovecot & there I can see it: /home/cwilliams/Maildir [root at mail Maildir]# ls -la total 608 drwx------ 33 cwilliams it 4096 Feb 25 13:23 . drwx------

Apple Mail and subfolders
Hi all, does anybody here use MacOS (Catalina) Mail, who can confirm that subfolders (i.e. folders inside folders) work for them? It seems that I cannot create/access Maildir subfolders at all. Subfolders created in Mail show up as '.folder\2esubfolder' on disk, suggesting that Apple Mail is URL-coding the dot separator before it passes it onto Dovecot. No such translation takes place

BUG - DELETE Public/Folder not working with Thunderbird
Hi Anton, Thank you very much for your helpful hint. Thunderbird clearly wants to move Public/Test to the Trash of the user who subscribed the Public folder. Question is how to solve this from a Dovecot point of a view, so a user can also delete folders? 2020200448[10053c700]: proposed url = Public/Test folder for connection INBOX has To Wait = FALSE can run = FALSE 2020200448[10053c700]:
