new user - documentation nightmare
I had located and installed wine via rpm only to discover that I needed
to compile from source to get --with-opengl. Fine. The documentation
with the source is written in sgml. Turns out sgml, specifically
Mozaic, died on the vine thirty years ago, replaced by xml, sort of.
Mozilla doesn't open sgml. A search suggested Netscape might.
Curious. So I installed 7.2. It doesn't

using audio CDROM with EAC & Suse 10.2 (wine)
I could use some help setting up Exact Audio Copy using wine 0.9.24 and SuSe

My problem is finding the audio cd, If I put in a data disk, hal will
update /media/.hal.mtab will have an entry and create a temporary mounting
point such as /media/new I probably could use that in winecfg to set up a
mounting point for wine. However if I insert an audio disk, the hal system

Package digest broken under R v2.4.0 devel
[cc:ing to the maintainer of digest]
FYI, package 'digest' (v0.2.1 2005/11/04 04:45:53) generates the same
output regardless of input with R v2.4.0 devel (2006-07-25 r38698).
Starting a vanilla R session you get:

png() and image()
Hi,
I try to create PNG images of a certain size where each pixel
intensity corresponds to exactly one probe signal in an Affymetrix
array. I try to use png() and image() with zero margins to do this.
Example:
z <- matrix(1:15, nrow=45, ncol=30)
png("large.png", height=nrow(z), width=ncol(z), bg="red")
par(mar=c(0,0,0,0))
image(z, col=gray.colors(16), axes=FALSE)

problem with rdocdir option when installing R2.3.1
Hi,
In the "R documentation and Administration" manual it is said that "The
configure or make variables |rdocdir| and |rsharedir| can be used to
install the system-independent doc and share directories to somewhere
other than |libdir|".
Then I've installed R v2.3.1 on a solaris platform (SunOS 5.9) with the
following commands :
> ./configure
