install dovecot 2.2.35 debian jessie
Hey Aki Tuomi, how are you doing?
I have tried many ways for getting 2.2.35 pre-built installed via 'apt-get
install' in Debian Jessie and Stretch using the official repos.
The reason I prefer to install pre-built instead of compiling it is because
the I run it on dockers, so it's a lot easier and automated to just apt-get
install it.
I was using 2.2.31 devel in Debian Jessie, I

[ceph-users] dovecot + cephfs - sdbox vs mdbox
Thanks Jack.
That's good to know. It is definitely something to consider.
In a distributed storage scenario we might build a dedicated pool for that
and tune the pool as more capacity or performance is needed.

I'm sending this message to both dovecot and ceph-users ML so please don't
mind if something seems too obvious for you.
Hi,
I have a question for both dovecot and ceph lists and below I'll explain
what's going on.
Regarding dbox format (https://wiki2.dovecot.org/MailboxFormat/dbox), when
using sdbox, a new file is stored for each email message.
When using mdbox, multiple

Inconsistency in map index
Hello,
The following errors are constantly popping up for 2 accounts. I can't get
it fixed,
I did doveadm backup to another account, the same happens in the new
account.
I did doveadm force-resync, the problem persists.
I'm using dovecot 2.2.

Hello Aki,
yes I did that, but I didn't remove the map files first (I don't know if
that's required).
I can do it again if needed.

recover missing messages - files still present in storage
Hi,
I have a user account that had almost 20GB of emails and now they're
missing.
Only a few are available trough IMAP or doveadm.
I can see in /path/to/mailbox/storage that thousands of "m." files are
still there, summing up 19GB of files.
doveconf -n http://termbin.com/7lgc
I have tried:
accessing via IMAP
accessing via doveadm search/fetch/mailbox status

I don't think so. Been using imapsync for large scale migrations from
external servers to our dovecot setup. Users

As this is still a release candidate, I'm thinking of running an isolated
instance of this version, and do doveadm force-resync just to fix just this
user's mailbox.

Hi!
2.2.35 is not unstable, but apparently it is in debian distribution,
which is called 'unstable'.

Do we really need Solr commit as cronjob?
I am testing Solr FTS on dovecot. Read online that some suggested to run
cronjob commit every minute, and optimize once a day.
I am using Solr 7.1.0 and I see some configurations:
In /etc/default/solr.in.sh:
#SOLR_OPTS="$SOLR_OPTS -Dsolr.autoSoftCommit.maxTime=3000"
#SOLR_OPTS="$SOLR_OPTS -Dsolr.autoCommit.maxTime=60000"
Also in solrconfig.xml:

Recommended tool for migrating IMAP servers
Hi Friends,
I would like to ask you a suggestion:
I need to migrate a imap server to a new one and then dismiss the old
one.
Reading from relative Dovecot documentation page
(https://wiki.dovecot.org/Migration), more tools are shown:
UW-IMAP's mailutil, imapsync, YippieMove and Larch.
The each mail servers are Linux based, one of this (mine) is Dovecot.
Based on your experience which of

Feature Request - Director Balance
Hi,
often I run into the situation where a dovecot server goes down for
maintenance, and all users get concentrated in the remaining dovecot server
(considering I have 2 dovecot servers only).
When that dovecot server comes back online, director server will send new
users to it, but the dovecot server that was up all the time will still
have tons of clients mapped to it.
I suggest the director

Benchmarks with imaptest
Hey guys,
Has anybody ever used imaptest to benchmark *ONLY* reads? I'm trying to run
a battery of tests in my new cluster and apparently no combination of
parameters works, because fetch instruction doesn't run. Below is the
command I'm using and its partial output
imaptest/src/imaptest host=$SERVER_IP port=143 user=teste%d at example%d.com
pass=$TEST_PASS users=10 domains=10

[ceph-users] dovecot + cephfs - sdbox vs mdbox
Hello Jack,
yes, I imagine I'll have to do some work on tuning the block size on
cephfs. Thanks for the advise.
I knew that using mdbox, messages are not removed but I though that was
true in sdbox too. Thanks again.
We'll soon do benchmarks of sdbox vs mdbox over cephfs with bluestore
backend.
We'll have to do some some work on how to simulate user traffic, for writes
and readings.

I'd like to achieve the following setup whit dovecot using multiple servers
