Have you though about fixing the configuration error?

Maildir + NFS + multiple machines = spectacular failure
I'm running beta7 on two machines, with maildir on NFS. I have lockd
running on all machines. I've found that Dovecot is highly unstable with
NFS when accessing a mailbox on more than one machine at the same time.
Both dovecot machines have:
mmap_disable = yes
lock_method = fcntl
NFS is version 3, exported from a third linux machine. All machines are
running 2.6.9 kernel.
Any ideas

Broken Header uidvalidity problem after upgrade
Hi, we use a current Debian etch distribution as basis for our servers,
which are running within a vmware server environment. Our current
configuration consists of a dovecot server with imap enabled and a ldap
based authentication. Mails are stored using the Maildir format on a
central nfs store. We do not use any virtual mailboxes.
Since upgrading from dovecot version 1.0.rc15 (debian

Dovecot 1.1rc9 strange messages
Helo all,
I'm working on a migration from qmail+courier+maildrop to postfix

Dovecot 1.2.9. next_uid was lowered
Hi There
A while ago I posted here about a crash of dovecot, that had to do with nfs and was quite certainly due to bad luck.
But still one problem persists:
We have a Mailbox, that is accessed from multiple users using IMAP.
Occasionally all the Emails in the mailbox seem to be missing, when accessing the Mailbox through IMAP, although they're still there on the server.
This seems to

Clients and dovecot-uidlist
Hello,
I'm trying to figure out what exactly (and why) are the consequences of a lost
or removal of the dovecot-uidlist file on an IMAP client (Thunderbird for
instance).
I took for granted that it was that the client would download all messages
again since it might be confused by some UID changes. But I don't really see
why (on the IMAP protocol level) and I don't know how to

Today's stable hg pull destroyed dovecot...
I performed a hg pull today for 1.0.1 and after recompilation my log

Maildir syncing rewrite
It finally seems to be working. I've done some testing now and it seems
to be working fine. If you have time, see if you can get it to break
(especially with INDEX=memory or by manually modifying the maildir).
The UIDs are kept in Courier-compatible dovecot-uidlist file
(so "mv courierimapuiddb dovecot-uidlist" should work). The great thing
about this code is that we never wait for

UID larger than next_uid in file /hosts/domain/user/dovecot-uidlist
I'm having the following problem and would appreciate any help or tips
on how to fix it.
None of my users can send email via pop3 or imap clients the only
consistent thing that i keep seeing in the logs are the following 2
messages:
UID larger than next_uid in file /hosts/domain/user/dovecot-uidlist
sync: UID inserted in the middle of mailbox

some errors on 1.1.3
Hi,
we recently upgraded dovecot from 1.0.5 to 1.1.3+latest patches. After the
upgrade I saw some errors in the logs and I'm not sure whether they're a
cause for concern. Our setup is 2 servers running openSUSE 11.0 and a NetApp
Filer as storage backend. Following is the config:
protocols: imap imaps pop3 pop3s
login_dir: /var/run/dovecot/login

No changes since v1.1.rc13. Below are the largest changes since v1.0:
* After Dovecot v1.1 has modified index or dovecot-uidlist files,
they can't be opened anymore with Dovecot versions earlier than

Broken header
Hi, I just upgraded to version 1.0.5 hoping to get rid of a problem that
made Thunderbird download all mails from time to time. I now see this
error (below). Does anyone know what it means?
Error: IMAP(user):
/mail2/home/user/.Maildir/.Folders.Persons.Foldername/dovecot-uidlist:

Index and Thunderbird
Hi,
Whitbox Linux 3 (RHEL)
Dovecot 1.0.rc29
Using NFS
From time to time does all mail get re-downloaded to Thunderbird. I
would believe this has something to do with an index problem. I upgraded
to 1.0 a few months ago but that didn't work well so I installed version
1.0.rc29 which worked better but we still get this problem from time to
time. DOes anyone know if it is a good idea to

pop3 coredump
Hi-
I was able to get a coredump out of the new pop3 (from 0.99.9-test4)
by attempting to simulate the execution environment and simply running
the pop3 program.
Running the older pop3 from 0.99.8.1 works fine, repeatedly:
% /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/pop3
quit
+OK Logging out.
However running the new one:
% /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/pop3.new
pop3(user9): Error: Corrupted index file

Dovecot dsync not replicating ".dovecot.sieve -> .sieve/managesieve.sieve" / setactive
Hello,
I've ran into problem with Dovecot and dsync replication. Everything
works perfectly, including replication of sieve scripts, except fact
that if user activates the 'managesieve' ruleset (I'm using currently
Roundcubemail) on "mail1" host, it wouldn't be activated on "mail2"
host, by creating symlink ".dovecot.sieve ->
