Hi Aki,
a bit hard for me to debug speaking protocol, but I can definitely reproduce it with multiple MUAs.

Hi Aki and Timo,
I'm still monitoring the flag sync. Appears
https://github.com/dovecot/core/commit/88b2ef52690acf66a925e2470331a9cc7c4cd320
has done the trick.
Will confirm once I have more evidence.

It looks like it only partially fixes the problem. If messages get read in a virtual mailbox they sync to the "original" mailbox. Changes to the "original" mailbox only seem to sync when new mail arrives to this mailbox where the

UNSEEN flag issues with multiple clients
Hi all,
I've been bugged by this issue for a while, and while I see that the
\UNSEEN flag is specified in the RFC to be reset once *any* client
connects and looks at a mailbox, I was wondering if there's a way to
change the behavior so that it's tracked on a per-client basis?
Or if there's even some way to turn it off so that both my iPhone mail
client and my main emacs viewmail

automatic flag updates
Is there a way to get dovecot to send automatic flag updates? I notice
that when I have two clients connected and one of them reads a new
message, the server sends a status update which contains the number of
unseen messages, but doesn't specifically say which ones have changed.
I think the solution to this problem, while not wasting bandwidth, is to
issue a unilateral FETCH FLAGS response

2.0 beta4 latest hg: segfault with virtual plugin
Hello Timo,
latest 2.0 hg version (changeset a6b050cc4a9a) segfaults when selecting
a virtual mailbox. Backtrace and dovecot -n are attached.
Please let me know if I can help with anything else to debug this.

And what about the "dovecot-keywords" files in both folders? Do they
match?

Cannot STORE \Seen flag on some mails
Hi,
I'm running Dovecot 1.2.17 on FreeBSD (exact output of 'dovecot -n' is
atttached to this mail). The machine is serving a public mailinglist
archive which is read-only; all mail arriving for the archive is marked
as \Seen using Sieve script.
This setup works well most of the time, but I noticed that for *some*
mails, the \Seen flag doesn't seem to be stored. Right now I

mysteriously disappearing RECENT flag
Hello,
I've decided to switch from UW-IMAP to Dovecot and so installed 1.0.rc15-2
on a Debian/Etch system and started using it with the existing MBOX folders.
My configuration is pretty much the default one, in particular I didn't
touch to any of mbox_xxx options.
The (hoped for) performance improvements were indeed quite noticeable and
mostly it works just fine but I seem to have one

2.1.rc1 (056934abd2ef): virtual plugin mailbox search pattern
Hello Timo,
With dovecot 2.1.rc1 (056934abd2ef) there seems to be something wrong
with virtual plugin mailbox search patterns.
I'm using a virtual mailbox 'unread' with the following dovecot-virtual file
$ cat dovecot-virtual
*
unseen
For testing propose I created the following folders with each containing
one unread message
INBOX, INBOX/level1 and INBOX/level1/level2

It seems to have a new side effect which I haven't noticed upfront as it does not produce logging in Dovecot:

Is there a way to catch mailbox and message flag changes?
Guys,
We have been trying to establish if there is a way to get some type of notification from Dovecot when a message is appended to a mailbox or when a message has its flags updated.
These are the 2 use cases:
A message is appended to the mailbox "/Watch", we want to trigger "processing" of the message immediately it arrives.
A message in the "Inbox" has its status

Keeping \Seen flag private
Hi all,
I wanna to set up shared folders for a couple of users and I'd like that
everyone could keep the \Seen flag as private. So if user #1 reads some
messages and user #2 not, those messages appear as "unseen" to #2 and "seen"
to #1.
I've implemented shared folders using namespaces with every user having their
own "control" and "private"

There is a seen message

Shown in Thunderbird as seen. Then i move this message to INBOX, and the
