Modify stored mail contents?
Yes, obviously clients can save messages. I meant: to modify messages in bulk, on the server, replacing the existing message bodies stored by Dovecot. Modify stored mail contents?
It looks like the mail filter plugin [https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Plugins/MailFilter] is almost exactly what I want, except for this: > Currently the filtering must not modify the message in any way: mail -> write filter -> read filter -> must produce exactly the original mail back. > (TODO: Modifying the mail during writing would be possible with some code changes.) Dovecot Sieve Broken with 1.1 RPMs?
We have been using dovecot v1:1.0.15-1_72 and dovecot-sieve v1.0.3-7 very successfully for many months but I've been unable to get dovecot-sieve to work with the latest 1.1 release. The new release seems to completely ignore our global sieve script no matter what we do. Is anyone else using the atrpms-stable rpms packages and able to get dovecot-sieve to work correctly? Any help would be

CentOS 6.2-x86-64
Greetings all, newbie to CentOS here. Also newbie to 64 bit installs. Package Manager problem: I found a yumex, which is not part of the 64 bit install, but it wants a way older version of python-2.4 whereas we have 2.6.6-something after the post install upgrade. 1st Question: Is there anything that can be done about this? Or is there something better, like a 64 bit synaptic to replace

How to inform all the daemons I have modified the smb.conf file
Hello, everyone I edit the lp_load() of the samba source that this fuction may modify the smb.conf sometimes. How can I let all the samba daemons know that? maildrop and multi-dbox
Hi there, I'm using Dovecot 2.0.9-1 under Arch Linux. Currently, I have Maildir configured, and I move all my emails into dovecot by using this sequence: 1) cron starts fetchmail periodically under user manfred to collect my mails from various email accounts. 2) In ~/.fetchmailrc I have configured /usr/bin/maildrop as MDA. 3) In ~/.mailfilter (used by maildrop) I have extensive filtering in

Dovecot, JavaMail, UIDs and Message Numbers
Hi, new to this list, so a little prelude to my issue with Dovecot. We have been using JavaMail against Cyrus for ages, and developed Webtop, a huge Java web collaboration application running on them in production in various installations for all this time. Recently we had to run the same software against Dovecot pre-existing accounts running on Nethesis NethServer solution. After some time of

Shared Mailboxes with VirtualUsers and mail_location retrieved from ldap
Hello, I spend a couple of days configurating a new installation of dovecot 2.0.14 with virtual accounts and NFS storage for maildir home/mail directories. At this point I need shared mailboxes but since user mail/home locations are ldap attributes, how is it supposed I must configure this for shared mailboxes? for the users' mail/home directories I set this line: user_attrs =

global sieve script
hi all, i'm moving from a maildrop+courier setup to lda(sieve)+dovecot setup. with maildrop i had a global filter for all the users, so i could filter and archive into the spam folder spam tagged emails for users without custom filters, including them if they exist: LOGNAME=tolower($LOGNAME) `test -e $LOGNAME` if ( $RETURNCODE != 0 ) { `maildirmake $LOGNAME` `maildirmake

can't read attachments using javamail with dovecot
Dear folks, this might be a java-bug, but it seems to occur only when connecting to dovecot-IMAP. UW and Cyrus-ditto works, while when I try to read attachments (base64), I get slapped in the face with this: java.lang.NullPointerException at com.sun.mail.iap.Response.parse(Response.java:99) at com.sun.mail.iap.Response.<init>(Response.java:68) at

Thanks Michael. I have forwarded that link to the Geronimo JavaMail team in case they think of anything their end. But in the documentation you sent it seems that Dovecot should respond in the case of LIST / "*" if my understanding is correct Is there any way to adjust this behaviour in the settings? I am struggling to search for a solution to the problem given the limited

2.2.26.0 : accessing "mdbox_deleted" content destroys indexes
Accessing or listing "mdbox_deleted" contents seems to destroy MDBOX indexes. Examples of commands which triggers this problem ($home being the home directory of $user, and mail_location being mdbox:~/mdbox): doveadm -o mail="mdbox_deleted:$home/mdbox" -f table mailbox status -u "$user" 'messages vsize' INBOX doveadm -v import -s -u "$user"

Hi Michael, Geronimo JavaMail hard defaults to / separator. If the separator is manually set to undefined it automatically calculates the separator correctly. However neither through JavaMail or by command line does LIST "." "*" or LIST . "*" produce any root listing of default folder on my Dovecot installation. Only LIST "" "*" produces a

Rails or Java J2EE (Spring, Struts Shale) - scalabilty
Hi, normally I am doing all my webprojects with PHP. But now I am planning to use a framework, either Ruby On Rails, or Java in particular J2EE with Java Spring, or Struts Shale. Well, I already tried RoR a few month ago, so I am simply comparing it to the Java alternatives now. My problem is, that maybe using Java for my projects is like using a dredger to grub a small hole :) But on the other

Execute mailfilter after message move
Hi, came here to ask, if there are any ideas about a possible Dovecot feature, which would allow execution of a specific mailfilter or other program after new message is *moved* in specified mail location? The practical benefit on my side would be, that there wouldn't be any need to do getmail cronjobs, which unnecessarily fill up logfiles... (primarily for easy spam learning and
