Changing the name of a compressed file
Thanks for that Aki. Follow-up question. I tried to initiate compression by adding mail_plugins = $mail_plugins zlib plugin { zlib_save_level = 6 zlib_save = xz } to dovecot.conf. I restarted dovecot and sent one message to the server, and one message from the server. Neither was compressed. I changed the save type to zlib_save = bz2 and repeated. This time the message

Ok, I added zlib to imap protocol. protocol imap { ? mail_plugins = $mail_plugins zlib } Now both imap and lmtp protocols have zlib plugin enabled, and both send and receive mail is compressed. Please check that you are not overwriting mail plugins for lmtp. Or post your doveconf -n. Aki > On June 10, 2017 at 11:10 AM Peter West <lists at pbw.id.au> wrote: > > > Not sure what you mean. It looks as though there is no global mail_plugins variable. Is this the case? Or have I misunderstood how global variable are expressed? compression script for use with zlib module
Hi, I'm wondering if someone already implemented a compression script (and would like to share it) based on the step-by-step provided on wiki page of Zlib module. I can already do some find|xargs gzip .... but couldnt implement it completly as described on the wiki page. I know the suggested step-by-step is very detailed and probably a must simplier will be enough for almost

handling filename of compressed messages
i'm running dovecot 1.2.9 and, among other things, i have the zlib plugin enabled. A shell script runs once a day to compresses all not still compressed files on the users maildirs. so far so good, it works fine, there's no problem on that. what i think is not happening 100% correctly is the following: 1) user receives a message 2) BEFORE the compress routine runs,

Fitting linear models
I am not sure if this is an R-users question, but since most of you here are statisticians, I decided to give it a shot. I am using the lm() function in R to fit a dependent variable to a set of 3 to 5 independent variables. For this, I used the following commands: >model1<-lm(function=PBW~SO4+NO3+NH4) Coefficients: (Intercept) SO4 NO3 NH4 0.01323 0.01968

Ubuntu Auth Issues with new repository code..
?? Saw the new repository notification, and figured what the heck I would try letting it upgrade me from the current v2.2.22 release that apparently is in the Ubuntu 16.04 packages, to the new repository release of v2.3.0. ?I followed the info on repo.dovecot.org, and first it started bitching about lmtp (dovecot: master: Fatal: service(lmtp) access(/usr/lib/dovecot/lmtp) failed: No such

Ubuntu Auth Issues with new repository code..
? I hear what your saying, but if you read and follow the repo page, it says run update, and then upgrade.?? Also as a test, I did remove the old 2.2 code, and installed the new 2.3 code, and again authentication fails. ?I am sure I may be missing something stupid, but the bottom line is, how can I track down why it will not auth using PAM under the newer code, when even looking at the auth

Ubuntu Auth Issues with new repository code..
The problem would appear that pam is reporting a system error, which fails your authentication. Are you supposed to be using pam? dsync backup; compressed to uncompressed
I need to backup some of the mailboxes on our system. We are currently using mdbox with zlib compression plugin. The backups need to be maildir without compression. How can I accomplish this using dsync? The following just causes each msg file in maildir to be compressed as well. dsync -f -u user1 backup maildir:/var/tmp/user1 While this just causes the dsync to fail while spewing a bunch of

Compressed mail archives
Hello, I have recently begun using IMAP to access my mails, and have found that the size of my maildir is quickly getting larger than I had anticipated. Googling around, I've seen a lot of messages related to compressing individual messages in a maildir. However, what I'm really looking for is a solution which will allow multiple messages to be compressed into a single compressed file,
