limit pop login per user and per minute
Hi, like I have written in the subject line I want to limit the pop login per user and per minute. Currently I am having several customers which are fetching their email with popcon (MS Exchange). This has never been a problem. But... They all have got the same "technician" which take care of their systems. The problem is, that he misconfigured the servers of these customers. In

[POP3] RFC2449 conformance?
RFC2449 Section 5 ("Capabilities available in the AUTHORIZATION state MUST be announced in both states.") requires that POP3 extensions offered in Authentication state MUST be offered in Transaction state as well, this affects the "SASL" extension. This is a CVS version that is a couple of days old (the old 0.99.10 wouldn't run on Linux 2.6 because it has tighter

Forcibly emptying a POP3 mailbox
Hello, I've recently saw a discussion on this list, about a standardised way of emptying POP3 mailboxes on the server - but no solution came up. Please provide a suggestion for the following situation: - I am running a stock POP3 dovecot server, on Fedora 12 (dovecot version 1.2.9) - passwd-file authentication via /etc/imap.passwd - users are virtual, sharing the same UID/GID; -

[PATCH] POP3 CAPA command RFC violation
Hello, looks like SASL capability reported by dovecot in response to POP3 CAPA command doesn't conforms with rfc2449 which says: Examples: C: CAPA S: +OK Capability list follows S: TOP S: USER S: SASL CRAM-MD5 KERBEROS_V4 S: RESP-CODES S: LOGIN-DELAY 900 S: PIPELINING

imap-postlogin and doveadm
We are configuring location= running a bash-script during imap-postlogin setting $MAIL in $USERDB_KEYS, as described in wiki/PostLoginScripting.txt This works fine. However, running a command like 'dovadm index [-u user] folder' only works for users with settings that match the default in mail_location= Would it be possible to make the location available for doveadm in a similar way,

Improper use of IN-USE in case of a failed authentication
RFC2449 defines the IN-USE extended POP3 response code as 8.1.2. The IN-USE response code This occurs on an -ERR response to an AUTH, APOP, or PASS command. It indicates the authentication was successful, but the user's maildrop is currently in use (probably by another POP3 client). http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2449.html In contrast to this, the POP3 login code in

dovecot.index mtime
Is there anyway I can get Dovecot to update mtime on dovecot.index everytime a user successfully checks there email? Or perhaps there is a better way to do what I want here. I am working on a script that I want to check when the last time a user checked there email account. If a user has not checked it in say 6 months I want to automatically suspend the account through the MTA. If they start

mbox and pop3, maildir and imap
Hi, Been reading a lot of posts about dovecot configuration, but can't really figure out if what I want is even possible or how to achieve this. My setup is simple : One linux machine that collects mail from my provider and sorts them for me and my wife, where my email is stored in Maildir format in ~myuser/.maildir and my wife's email is stored in mbox format in

Require different setting for mail_location for each of POP3S and IMAPS protocols
Okay, Let's try this a different way. I've been able to configure past dovecot to have a different mail_location setting for the same user, but with different protocols. When the user requests POP3S, I adjusted the mail_location to /var/mail/$USER (with mbox in use). When that *same* user requested IMAPS protocol, the required mail_location is the Maildir folder. This allows for

Any possibility of running query after sucessful login?
Hi, I'm using finally dovecot 2.0 after quite a smooth upgrade from 1.0 :) with virtual mailboxes stored in sql database. Sometimes I need to check if a mailbox has been used recently or not. Checking for logins in dovecot logs sometimes means searching through gigabytes of info... I was just wondering if there is any possibility of running another query after successful login - just to

postlogin script
I'm using the postlogin service, following the examples in the wiki. But I can't find any documentation on the behavior (what's allowed/not allowed) of the script-login binary. So, some questions: Question 1: The examples show the following at the end of the post-login.sh script: exec "$@" My understanding is that this would exec each of the command line arguments to

dovecot transaction log permissions
So after some problems with NFS and transaction logs getting corrupted. Im tyring out storing them localy. via.. mail_location: maildir:~/Maildir:INDEX=/var/dovecot/indexes/%u the problem is with a large amount of users.. the indexes dir becomes huge with this setup. So a change to make this better is... mail_location: maildir:~/Maildir:INDEX=/var/dovecot/indexes/%d/%n to seperate the users

Last login datetime on accounts
I have searching for the best way to tell if a Dovecot user is idle by finding the last time they have logged in. Right now the best way I can tell is to do something like "touch" a file in the users homedir via a post login exec. This seems like a LOT of overhead, to accomplish such a simple task, especially if your doing a lot of dozens of logins per second. Is there an
