Identify if a message_part is an attachment ?
Hello, This is my first post to this group. I have read through the instructions before posting. I hope am doing the right thing. If not my sincere apologies. I am in the process of developing a dovecot IMAP plugin (over v2.2.25). The plugin works with mdbox/sdbox which has ability to keep attachments as external references (via SiS POSIX). The plugin must enable fetching attachment from REDIS

SIS: dovecot creates duplicated attachments (sometimes)
SIS deduplication was broken in 2.2.16 and has been fixed with https://github.com/dovecot/core/commit/3b39022ea0513363241cf852b7d454c841584ea1 but still sometimes (just several times in a month or so) dovecot creates duplicated attachments. As you can see in directory listings below all attachments was created at (about) the same time, but one of them has different inode number. It easy to

SIS generating 2 different hashes for the same mail and attachment
Hi, I've been testing SIS over the weekend as it seems to be a nifty feature. I don't have that many users and mailboxes but still... I only added the following line to my configuration: mail_attachment_dir = /var/spool/vmail/attachments As a test I sent a mail from GMail to 2 mailboxes (1 To and 1 CC). The attachment got saved to the attachment directory (on ZFS): # find . ./04

Problems setting up SIS (duplicate files with same hash)
Hi everyone, I am currently trying to setup our next dovecot server (2.2.18) with SIS enabled, but I have enconutered 1 problem and 1 question: *1) Same attachment, different filenames* I have a feeling a misconfigured something (or forgot to do something) because SIS almost works, but not quite since 3 identical attachment take 3x the space (see end of email for my SIS config). For 3 the

Rsync to backup dbox with SIS
We will be deploying a replacement Dovecot server soon, and we are planning to use maildir for the primary storage, but with an archive namespace using mdbox (or perhaps sdbox), and SIS. Our backup servers and (luke)warm spare server need to obtain full copies of the mail store. For the maildirs I know I can simply use rsync (we already use it here). I'm a little wary of using rsync with

SiS and attachments filename
Hi, I've been working with dovecot SiS for a long time without any problem. This is my configuration for SiS: mail_attachment_dir = /mail/users/attachments mail_attachment_fs = sis posix mail_attachment_hash = %{sha1} mail_attachment_min_size = 128 k With this configuration, I have, for example: # ls -l /mail/users/attachments/27/d1/27d1904ac9947945bf48ea545ec278940d840ed1* -rw-------

Doubts about dsync, mdbox, SIS
I've been running continous dsync backups of our Maildirs for a few weeks now, with the destination dsync server using mdbox and SIS. The idea was that the destination server would act as a warm copy of all our active users data. The active servers are using Maildir, and has: $ df -h /usr/local/atmail/users/ Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/atmailusers

2.1.rc1 (8a63f621bd2e): SiS permission issue + crash
Since changeset 8a63f621bd2e I'm one step closer to the perfect working setup. I'm sharing one GID per domain, all it's alias names and accounts. So I can use: mail_attachment_dir = /srv/mail/.SiS/%{gid} In order to avoid permission trouble I've set fs ACL on the .SiS dir: ,--[ getfacl srv/mail/.SiS ]-- | # file: srv/mail/.SiS | # owner: root | # group: root | user::rwx |

mdbox + sis + altstorage: error in attachments-connector (file not found)
Hello, first time here. I am playing with Dovecot because of its mdbox storage, SIS feature and altstorage ability. I authenticate against LDAP (passdb), but I don't fetch operational data from LDAP (mail_locations are static from config files and "user_attrs = =uid=500, =gid=500, =home=/maildata1/home/%d/%1n/%n"). On a daily basis I run "doveadm altmove -A savedbefore

Enabling SIS (single instance storage)
Ok, didn't find much on this... The bottom of /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-mail.conf has the following settings: #mail_attachment_dir = #mail_attachment_min_size = 128k #mail_attachment_fs = sis posix #mail_attachment_hash = %{sha1} all of which are apparently the defaults according to doveconf -d output - so no need to set them explicitly, unless I want to change them, right? So, enable the

Change default mode for attachment files
Hi I migrated my dovecot server from Maildir to mdbox with saving attachments to external files and enabled SIS a few days ago. Everything works fine except one issue. I have both virtual and system users. Dovecot saves attachments with mode 0600. So I catch such errors for system users: dovecot: lda(wasya): Error: fs-sis: Couldn't read hash file

Single instance storage - testing please
http://hg.dovecot.org/dovecot-2.0-sis contains the code for it. Otherwise it's the latest (as of writing this) dovecot-2.0 hg tree. Please test if you're interested in SIS. :) Once there's at least some testing, I'll probably add this to v2.0.x since very little of this new code is used when SIS is disabled (which is the default of course). SIS works pretty much like explained in

Errors with missing links to files when using Single Instance Storage and zlib (Dovecot 2.3.4)
Having had a week with the system I'm now inclined to believe that the issues I've seen are not necessarily related to SIS and zlib but may be due to replication instead. After experiencing these issues and looking at historical mailing list posts I wrote a basic script (as was suggested as a possible diagnostic approach for SIS before SIS was even implemented!) which pulled all the

Problems with compressed mail_attachment_dir
Hi there ! I?m using dovecot 2.3.10 (manually compiled on Centos 8 x86_64 - fully updated), XFS filesystem, with mdbox and a separated compressed attachment directory: mail_attachment_fs = sis compress:lz4:6:posix mail_attachment_hash = %{sha256} mail_attachment_dir = /ATTACHMENTS I'm using dovecot LDA (for mail delivery). Everything works fine with the delivery and compression. The

Stability of extraction of attachment
Hello, We are migrating our dovecot servers from 2.1.9 to 2.1.15 (or 2.2 if there is a stable version soon) and maildir format to mdbox. Looking for mdbox options I have found options: * mail_attachment_dir * mail_attachement_min_size * mail_attachment_fs * mail_attachment_hash but this options are described with the message: # WARNING: This feature hasn't been tested much yet.
