Clamping down on mailbox sizes...
In that scenario, what actually happens? Does mail get stored? Or rejected? Or delayed? Clamping down on mailbox sizes...
I'd take the opposite approach and tell them no new mail will be received until they are under quota. Assistance with doveadm backup...
Ok, so for lack of any other information, am I to conclude that the doveadm backup command is broken in 2.0.9? I have been through the wiki for it back and forth and cannot make it work. Yes, I need to upgrade, there is no question, but I won?t do that without a maildir backup. I would prefer to use the built-in dovecot mechanisms for that than something else. Shouldn't an event of this type trigger a useful warning instead of a cryptic programming error? Assistance with doveadm backup...
I am having trouble locating examples of how to use doveadm backup. All the examples I see are for sync. I simply want to create a backup to a network volume of the email server's vmail folders. The goal here is to have a reasonably current backup should the main drive on the email server go south. We currently authenticate our users from a mysql database. User?s mailboxes are stored as

I see you haven?t received an answer. Sorry people here don?t seem to have time or inclination to answer basic questions. I?ve tried. You?re better to search elsewhere. Relative home path not allowed - but how is this relative?
I just set up my server with MySQL support for authentication/authorization compatible with Postfix Admin. Initially, I was getting the "Relative home directory paths not supported" message, and it's easy to see why - Postfix Admin stores the maildir as "$domain/$userpart@$domain". But the directories in 10-mail.conf are set as mail_location =

Permissions on /var/log/dovecot
So is yours. Why not say what SHOULD be done? Since we were discussing logging, including only the lines about logging seem to be a reasonable response to the original open-ended question. ?Please include the complete output of ?dovecot -n?? would get your point across instead of just letting you be a snarky ass. Outlook Express with XP...
Dovecot 2.0.9 I am able to connect successfully with Thunderbird, Win 8, Apple Mail, iPhone, iPad. Outlook Express on Win XP receives just fine, but will not send. I get a "Client host rejected: Access denied? message. I believe this is simply Postfix telling me the connection isn?t properly authenticated, as setting up the exact same credentials on another client (non OE) works. It is

elementary usage clamping
I''m pretty smart, and was once regarded as pretty network and computer savvy. But the world has obviously passed me by! I have a server in a colocation facility, and I was recently hit by a bill for overage; I used more bandwidth than I expected, and I must pay. So now, I want to bother with packet shaping on the server. The *most* important thing is to clamp bandwidth to the 1Mbps
