Trying Dovecot Replication with dsync
Hi, I have a failover cluster for mail server with: Ubuntu12.04 + DRBD (for block replication) + Ext4 filesystem + Dovecot-2.0.19-2 with Mdbox It works fine with ~50k accounts. My cluster design: http://adminlinux.com.br/cluster_design.txt I plan to test Dovecot Replication with dsync to build an active/active cluster with load balancing. Can anyone direct me to some literature? A tutorial

Dsync replication
I have been loosely following discussions dsync replication, but I am wondering if this tool still in a testing phase or has it been committed as a production part of Dovecot? I would like to do some testing with the protocol to see if it's capable of handling the change rate our mail service generates, which has about 23,000 active users. We are trying to find solutions for a two site

Sieve Script Replication Gliches (Report #2)
Hi, I've observed some odd behaviour with dsync replication between two hosts, specifically to do with sieve script replication. In short, I have two hosts which replicate in a master-master type setup where almost all of the reads and writes happen to just one of the two hosts. They are both running 2.2.devel (9dc6403), which is close to the latest 2.2 -git . Pigeonhole is running

Setting up replication?
I'm trying to set up replication between two servers and I've hit a snag. I have two users and am using mbox files. If anybody has a sample config file for a simple system like mine I would really be grateful to see it. Thanks, The error I'm getting is: Mar 23 14:07:31 knute2 dovecot: doveadm(192.168.3.100,nobody): Error: user nobody: Initialization failed: Namespace

inexpensive ways to make a rails application highly available? mysql replication?
I''m interested in making a low volume rails application very available. This means that I would like to have an alternate server for those times when the primary server is unavailable for whatever reason. Virtual private servers are fairly inexpensive so one could have a rails application on 2 different vps systems (not on the same server, possibly not even in the same city).

User names not replicating to secondary DC
I have 2 Ububtu DCs. One acting as a secondary/failover. At one point the users were replicated from primary to secondary. But now they are not replicating. The output from samba-tool drs showrepl is attached. What else may I provide to aid diagnostics? I know Samba does not replicate sysvol 'yet', so rsync is needed, but that does not seem to contain the users. Thank you,

dsync replication questions
I am running two servers with Dovecot v2.2.12 on CentOS x86_64 (5.10 and 6.5 respectively) and users are virtual over ldap. I have setup our main internal server (vmail.example.com) with dsync replication according to the first part of http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Replication. The second one (vmail1.example.com) will be the failover server which we want to be a real-time mirror (but can be

Dovecot clustering with dsync-based replication
This document describes a design for a dsync-replicated Dovecot cluster. This design can be used to build at least two different types of dsync clusters, which are both described here. Ville has also drawn overview pictures of these two setups, see http://www.dovecot.org/img/dsync-director-replication.png and http://www.dovecot.org/img/dsync-director-replication-ssh.png First of all, why dsync

dsync replication does not replicate new subfolders
Hello, Although this issue has been raised in another thread: https://www.mail-archive.com/dovecot at dovecot.org/msg57281.html I decided I should create a new one dedicated on it because that thread includes other issues as well, and the issue in question still remains unresolved although it is an important one (and I am hoping to attract Timo's attention on it, too ;-) ). 2.3.1 Replication is throwing scary errors
Hi Andy, Funny you say that - I've been testing this very problem for some time today to narrow down the commits where I think the problem started occurring. So far I have been able to roll forward to commit from git: 74ef8506dcb946acc42722683e49fdcb964eed19 >> "doveadm: Unref header search context after use" . So far I have been running on that code for a few hours

Redundant and Geobalancing setup
Hi, I use dovecot for a long time now, but only as a single isolated server each time. I joined a company a few years back. We had trouble with compagnies hosting our mail, supposedly full redundant and so on. The company is small, but we have many dealers around the world, and it's growing. Mail became the fist choice for clients to contact the dealers. No mail, and we loose sales. For

dovecot proxy/director and high availability design
I'm trying to determine which dovecot components to use and how to order them in the network path from client to mail store. If I have say 1,000 users, all stored in MySQL (or LDAP) and have 4 mail stores, configured into 2, 2 node pods. MS1 and MS2 are pod1 and are configured with replication (dsync) and host users 0-500. MS3 and MS4 are pod2 and are configured with replication between

2.3.1 Replication is throwing scary errors
Ah yes. The hash I put below is wrong but the commit message I quoted was right. This is the last known working good commit, which was on Mar 6: https://github.com/dovecot/core/commit/ff5d02182573b1d4306c2a8c36605c98f217ef3b "doveadm: Unref header search context after use Fixes memory leak, found by valgrind" I've subsequently been able to determine that the bad commit was one of

Replication fails with "Remote dsync doesn't use compatible protocol"
I can't get replication to work in Dovecot 2.2.1. I'm getting the following error on the machine where I'm initiating the replication: richatwork dovecot: doveadm: Error: dsync-remote(richatwork): Error: dsync(local): Remote dsync doesn't use compatible protocol Both the local and remote servers are running identical versions of Dovecot (2.2.1), so I don't understand why I

Realtime +Mysql +Failover
Hoping someone out there has run into this or has some ideas for us. We currently have asterisk set up with Realtime (using mysql) for its extensions, sip and voicemail files. The problem we are trying to solve, is one of a failover mechanism. What if our mysql server went down. Can Realtime be set up with a secondary mysql server to get its data from. We can set up mysql to sync with its fellow
