panic with today's stable
Did cvsup on a machine that does just mail processing (well, a lot of spam scanning) and it crashed not too much later. This kernel does not include MFC src/sys/kern/sys_process.c revisions 1.111 and 1.112: Use kmem_alloc_nofault() rather than kmem_alloc_pageable() in procfs_rwmem(). Use vm_page_hold() in place of vm_page_wire() since the page can be freed. Don't hold extra

[PATCH] xen/hvc: Fix polling mode to work with kdb/kgdb
Fix the polling section of the hvc driver to use the global "last_hvc" variable, rather than the ttys. With this change debugging a xen dom0 kernel is possible via the following kernel parameter: kgdboc=hvc0 Signed-off-by: Ben Guthro <Benjamin.Guthro@citrix.com> diff --git a/drivers/tty/hvc/hvc_console.c b/drivers/tty/hvc/hvc_console.c index 2d691eb..3750e74 100644 ---

Usage serial device
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I'm trying to connect the *same* serial device to two KVM Linux machines where one is running KGDB and the other uses the connected serial to interact with the target machine running under KGDB. However, I'm unable to do so. Using a pty port, I am able to use my kgdb setup with host/VM but unable to make it work with VM/VM since it's

6.4-PRELEASE sporadically panicking with fatal trap 12
Hello, I'm running 6.4-PRELEASE, last built on 2008-10-05 with /usr/src updated on the same day. I had a panic that looks to me very similiar to the one described here (hence the subject): http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-stable/2008-September/045405.html What caught my curiosity is the message: Unread portion of the kernel message buffer: acd0: WARNING - TEST_UNIT_READY read

RELENG_7 panic under load: vm_page_unwire: invalid wire count: 0
Box with fresh RELENG_7 panic under heavy network load (more than 50k connections). This panics seems to be senfile(2) related, because when sendfile disabled in nginx, I can't reproduce the problem. Backtrace in all cases like this: # kgdb kernel /spool/crash/vmcore.1 GNU gdb 6.1.1 [FreeBSD] Copyright 2004 Free Software Foundation, Inc. GDB is free software, covered by the GNU General

syncer causing latency spikes
Hello, I'm trying to investigate and solve some postgres latency spikes that I'm seeing as a result of some behaviour in the syncer. This is with FreeBSD 8.2 (with some local modifications and backports, r231160 in particular). The system has an LSI 9261-8i RAID controller (backed by mfi(4)) and the database and WALs are on separate volumes, a RAID 6 and a RAID 1 respectively. It has

"sleeping without queue" ?
Hello! My attempt to build openoffice.org-3 seems to be hanging. Pressing Ctrl-T produces: load: 0.11 cmd: tcsh 79759 [sleeping without queue] 0.00u 0.00s 0% 0k (tcsh is used by OOo's build-script). What is this "sleeping without queue" state, and why is process in it for so long? This is an 4-CPU amd64 system with 4Gb of RAM. Only 16% of the swap is currently in use and

Panic : bad pte
Hello, There it is, all my computers on FreeBSD 9.1-RELEASE had panic. I can just say there is a problem in the 9.1-RELEASE because I had no panic before. What afraid me is that my production server also panic'ed a few days ago, fortunately it does not appears so often. This is a panic that happened on my desktop computer, with a graphic card. hifn(4) causing system lockup
Hi all, can someone comment on the state of the hifn(4) driver? I've recently upgraded my 6.2-STABLE workstation to RELENG_7, and I'm now experiencing system lockups that seem to be caused by the hifn(4) driver. I've got a Soekris vpn1401 card to help with GELI disk en- cryption. Reading from a GELI volume is causing the system to freeze completely, which does not happen if

How to debug DomU WinXP throught serial port with windbg?
hi, I am using xen-unstable version and I can use the serial port to debug DomU openSuSE Linux with kgdb very well. But it doesn''t work when I am trying to debug DomU WinXP with windbg. I happened to find this link http://www.evilbitz.com/2006/12/13/howto-debugging-a-remote-windows-hvm-under-xen-using-windbg/, but it still doesn''t work for me. Any suggestions about this?

Strange reboot since 9.1
Hello, Since FreeBSD 9.1 I have strange problems with the distribution. Some servers are rebooting without any kernel panic, instanly. First i thought it's a problem with my KVM system, but one of my FreeBSD under a Dell R210 have the same problem. The servers concerned are now: - Monitoring server - LDAP test server - Some other servers, randomly (not in production). First i thought it's
