Error when searching in mailfolders
Hello, >>> Lucene library is throwing an error, which crashes Dovecot. Maybe Dovecot >>> should catch the error, but it would still be broken. Try deleting the lucene indexes and rebuilding them? >> Deleting the indexes helped, but after they had been rebuilt, the error occurred again. > Could you enable core dumps and run bt full in gdb? Doubled subjectlines in mailfolders
Hi, after the upgrade from 0.99 to 1.0rc15 on our RHEL 5 Server I noticed, that some of my mailfolders do double the mails subject line in the listview of thunderbird. The mail itself isn't doubled and the second mail contains a different content from a mail that didn't show up in the list. SO it seams, that only the subject line is somehow wrong. Any ideas or tips? I haven't

Nightly builds of Debian packages
Hello, how is the future of the automatically built nightly debian packages of dovecot? Has that project been ceased? The current auto-built version is still 2.2.28 from April 28, though 2.2.29 (with a security patch) of dovecot is out now for a while. Regards Christoph

OT - Experience using Gmail for Asterisk Mailing List
Hi for those who are unhappy with whatever mail reader arrangement they have reading the mailing list, I'd like to share my experience using Gmail, which I have been using for about a week or so now. I find Gmail to be excellent for the mailing list. It doesn't feel like a web mail application at all. The threading works perfectly. Responding to the list keeps the threads intact. It

Dovecot v1.2 ACL shared-boxes users in SQL, how to remove entries?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, I noticed that entries added to the ACL dict are not removed, when an user no longer has explicit ACLs to another user, e.g.: [at the beginning no ACLs for "user"] 1 login testuser pwd 2 setacl INBOX user lp 3 deleteacl INBOX user Although "user" has no ACLs of mailfolders of "testuser", the user-testuser

Sender address when notifying original recipient
Hello, I am using sieve with notification of the original recipient in the case that an email has been identified to contain a virus. After upgrading dovecot from 2.2.21 to 2.2.29.1, I now detected that in these notifications, their sender address is now <postmaster@>, instead of <postmaster at mailserver.domain>, like it was before. Is it possible to revert to the old format?

Understanding dovecot ACLs
Hello List I am running a Cyrus IMAP that needs to be replaced. Geting a Dovecot IMAP up and running was surprisingly simple. My configuration is close to Johnny Chaddas Howto at http://johnny.chadda.se/2007/04/15/mail-server-howto-postfix-and-dovecot-with-mysql-and-tlsssl-postgrey-and-dspam/ Its a Dovecot 1.1.10 on FreeBSD 6.4 Anyway, while basic setup was easy, i stuck in a couple of details

Always 'new mail' false notifications?
Hi, I just yesterday played around and installed dovecot. I like it a lot (except for the lack of mysql support), but I have one issue I can't seem to fix. I am using mutt as my mailclient and mutt will alert me whenever new mail has arrived in any mailfolder I have configured. The thing is, that mutt continously signals me of new mail in all my folders, when in reality nothing has entered

mail messages moving between mailfolders
Hello to all! I'm using IMAP-based antispam self-learning. I have a folder "spam" in each Maildir in which I place spam-tagged messages during delivery. If antispam filter makes mistake, user can drag'n'drop message to/from "spam" folder. I running perl-script periodicaly and retrain spam-filter (dSpam). Now I must scan all messages, but it's not a good

Optimizing search performance for mobile devices / web mailer / general - solr plugin config
Hi all, we run dovecot for a long time now with no complains from the users ? until this week. Some users say, the search in mailfolders from iPhone (which only stores a few mails and search most on the server as I know) or our web mailer (SOGo, which I currently search also on the imap server) is ?slow?. As this is sort of individual experience, I was thinking of ways to speed up the search and

Deliver - Virtual users
Hello... I have dovecot 1.0.10 running with users in an LDAP database. Things are working as they should with IMAP. However, I can't seem to make deliver w. postfix work they way I want. My problems are: Mail to users who do not exist in LDAP or locally are accepted and mailfolders are created. I want mail to users that do not exist in LDAP or locally to be rejected. Mail is delivered

trouble accessing mbox folders with simultaneous logins
Hi all! I have setup dovecot (RPM) on a Fedora Core 2 machine using LDAP for authentication. It all seems to work pretty well, except for simultaneous logins. I am using mbox files to store the mail as follows (from /etc/dovecot.conf): default_mail_env = mbox:~/.mail/:INBOX=/var/mail/%u:INDEX=MEMORY So the INBOX file is stored in /var/mail, other mailfolders are stored in the users

Bug report: "doveadm rename" encodes special characters wrongly in mUTF-7 (in fs)
Hello there, I'm pretty sure I found a bug in latest Dovecot 2.2.5.5 (EE) when playing with the doveadm command. Naturally renaming a users mail folder should be done via "doveadm es consistent. So when using "doveadm rename" trying to rename a folder with special characters e.g. german umlauts like "??" it seems to create the folder wrongly in the filesystem.

force-resync and replication
Hi list, I am using dovecot 2.2.27 (c0f36b0) on two servers with (dovecot) replication between them. I do not use dovecot-directors or -proxies. I just have a floating IP on the servers to do failover. I had the problem today that in one user's INBOX and one if his mailfolders got flooded with hundreds of thousands of duplicates. How this happened is another issue (of someone has an idea it

Proximity searching in rdig ferret
Lucene has a syntax "foo bar"~10 for finding foo within 10 words of bar. Does ferret support this feature? (the ~ is used for fuzzy queries) Does rdig? This could be a deal breaker for me ''cos I really need proximity searches -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Backend for Lucene format indexes-How to get doclength
*Or do you mean that it's one number per document whereas the other stats are per database, so it's harder to store it?* yes, I mean this. It's a huge data. If a new doclength list(contains all the doclength in a list, like chert) is added by myself, I am concern about: 1. This doclength list may be the bottlenect in this backend, http://trac.xapian.org/ticket/326 2. Change too much
