Authentication Problem with dovecot-2.3.0.1
I am a little confused here. I have been running 2.2.34 which I installed in /opt/dovecot2.2 I installed 2.3.0.1 to /opt/dovecot23 I then used config files from /opt/dovecot2.2/etc/dovecot to /opt/dovecot2.3/etc/dovecot and all I did was sed -i.BAK 's/dovecot2.2/dovecot2.3/g'. Dovecot started and was running file. Next, I manually crafted config files for 2.3.0.1 based on the example

How to configure sendmail using dovecot lmtp
Hi, I can't seems to find any posting on how to configure sendmail to use dovecot as lmtp. All I see is using it as LDA. I am particularly interested on how to tell sendmail to ask dovecot to deliver the message to the user. In the wiki for lda it says to add the following in the sendmail config: FEATURE(`local_procmail',

Plugin antispam - mailtrain realtime sa-learn
Hi, On Dovecot Wiki2[1] it is written that you need a wrapper script for sa-learn as it shouldn't support pipped input, but that is supported since SpamAssassin 2.6 at least. As far as I can see and test, the following config makes it work without a wrapper script. Can someone confirm it before the wiki is updated? plugins { antispam_backend = pipe antispam_trash = Trash

Problem with Pigeonhole/Sieve
Hi Steffen, 248 is a dovecot, 202 is dovenull, both users are in theirs groups across. If I change ownership of /usr/local/dovecot to dovecot.dovecot, then dovecot is correcting it to root.root for some reason. Does it mean that dovecot should be running as root only? What does it mean / here? is it / in filesystem or it is / for dovecot in /usr/local/dovecot ? May 01 14:36:00 master:

Shouldn't rxml files be exempt from layout by default?
RJS templates are the only template type that are exempt from layout by default. Don''t you think it makes sense to add rxml to the list of exempt extensions? I''d assume most people would be surprised to see their XML embedded in the middle of their (most probably) rhtml layout. http://dev.rubyonrails.org/svn/rails/trunk/actionpack/lib/ action_controller/base.rb:

Exempt mailboxes from indexing?
I looked through the wiki and the archives, but couldn't find an answer to this question. We use a webmail product that uses three dummy mbox dotfiles for storing configuration and temporary info. I'm trying to find a way to have dovecot's indexing ignore all dotfiles, and so far have had no luck (other than, of course, coding it in myself). Does anyone know if this is possible?

login_trusted_networks (v2.0.8)
I just spent a bit puzzling over "login_trusted_networks". My problem was using "10.1.2/24" instead of "10.1.2.0/24". Here are some things I looked for during troubleshooting that didn't pan out: (1) No messages printed to syslog. (2) Search for "login_trusted_networks" on the Wiki (wiki2) failed. (3) Comments in example config file

login_trusted_networks from webmail ?
I'd like to get the IP-address of the webmail-klient logged in my maillog (for being compliant with coming data retention policies). I've noticed that with login_trusted_networks pointing at my dovecot directors, we get rip=client-ip logged on the backends. How is the proxy providing this to the dovecot backends? Anybody know what magic we need to implement in our webmail-solution to be

Suggestion: Split login_trusted_networks
Hi, It seems the use of login_trusted_networks is overloaded. Example: * It's used for indicating which hosts you trust to provide XCLIENT remote IP's. * It's used for indicating from which hosts you trust logins enough to disable auth penalty. (like in a webmail) However... trustwise, this is trusting two different entities. The first case you put trust in the host. In the second
