Strange search behavior
Hello,
Unfortunately, the dovecot instance doesn't belong to me and I have no way
to get the configuration.
However, if that can help I've been able to reproduce this behavior on
every dovecot installations I've tried.

Assertion during dsync receive
Thanks. I've had the user clear out that mailbox, and replication is working fine for them again.
Is there a better way to catch this than watch for crashes and read the backtrace to find what mailbox needs to be shrunk?
Where is the threshold for "too big"?

2.1.rc1 (056934abd2ef): virtual plugin mailbox search pattern
Hello Timo,
With dovecot 2.1.rc1 (056934abd2ef) there seems to be something wrong
with virtual plugin mailbox search patterns.
I'm using a virtual mailbox 'unread' with the following dovecot-virtual file
$ cat dovecot-virtual
*
unseen
For testing propose I created the following folders with each containing
one unread message
INBOX, INBOX/level1 and INBOX/level1/level2

Panic when runing "doveadm mailbox status ... vsize"
I'm using dovecot 2.2.24 on FreeBSD 10.3. I'm working on converting
users from maildir to mdbox, for the usual reasons.
I have converted some test users and they generally work fine. But
when I run "doveadm mailbox status" I get a Panic if I ask for the
vsize field (or "all"), but other fields work fine. For example:
# doveadm mailbox status -u bubbacheex3

Has anyone managed to reproduce this (using my transcript for example)?
With mutt, I get this problem.. If I set 'imap_pipeline_depth=0' in
.muttrc, I can't seem to reproduce it anymore.

My Dsync isn't replicating 'EXPUNGE' IMAP command
Hi!
I have two Dovecot-2.2.13 servers with Dsync Replication: server1 and
server2.
When I execute 'EXPUNGE' on server1 side, the messages with FLAG
\Deleted are expunged only on server1. The message is still present in
Server2.
Could someone give me a hint reason for this ?
Thanks in advance!

Strange behavior from shared namespaces and INBOX, probably a bug
Hi,
we have experienced some erratic behavior from Dovecot 2.0.15 if a user's INBOX
is shared.
Some folders of user1, including the INBOX, have been shared using these IMAP commands:
. login user1 XXXXXX
. setacl INBOX user2 lrwstiekx
. setacl box-a user2 lrwstiekx
Now if we use telnet to log in as user2 and select "shared/user1", it will contain the same
mails as

Expunge is not expunging unless called twice--revisited
Hi,
I'm running dovecot-1.0.beta8 from FreeBSD ports, using mbox mail
store. My problem appears to have come up on the list about a month
ago, "Expunge is not expunging unless it is called twice". I ran
through Bill Boebel's telnet-IMAP session for myself, and I see that
his test case is now fixed (as Timo said), but mutt, for whatever
reason, uses +FLAGS.SILENT, and I'm

Race condition when setting flags (\Deleted) + expunge quickly, leaving mails not deleted
Hello.
I seem to have found a race condition, when setting flags on multiple emails
rapidly. 5 commands including login to reproduce. Problem found using mutt in
real world usage.
Seems to happen both with UID STORE 1:3 and UID STORE 1,2,3 ..
I have tried with the following packages, with a minimized config in a
throwaway vm:

Latest Virtual Plugin changes seem to have broken flag changes: 2.2.devel (bf2fa36)
Hi,
I?m using several views like this:

Before the recent changes read mail stayed in sync with the virtual folder. Now regardless whether mail is read in the original Folder or the virtual Folder, the flags are not synchronized anymore. Read mail is flagged unread in the corresponding

mysteriously disappearing RECENT flag
Hello,
I've decided to switch from UW-IMAP to Dovecot and so installed 1.0.rc15-2
on a Debian/Etch system and started using it with the existing MBOX folders.
My configuration is pretty much the default one, in particular I didn't
touch to any of mbox_xxx options.
The (hoped for) performance improvements were indeed quite noticeable and
mostly it works just fine but I seem to have one

automatic flag updates
Is there a way to get dovecot to send automatic flag updates? I notice
that when I have two clients connected and one of them reads a new
message, the server sends a status update which contains the number of
unseen messages, but doesn't specifically say which ones have changed.
I think the solution to this problem, while not wasting bandwidth, is to
issue a unilateral FETCH FLAGS response

Hello,
I had an Inbox with 975,604 emails on ext3 filesystem.
I keept getting dropped on the comand "copy 1:2000 inbox2", the syslog gave
me an error message indicating "out of memory" problems.
This despite the fact that the server has 800MB of ram free.
Anyways, I asked if I could manuanlly move the files at the filesystem level
or if that would mess up dovecot (break the
