Ok, what about placing a dummy file of 5GB or so on the partition, that

Dovecot 2.2.15 issues with global ACL
Hello,
We have upgraded from Dovecot 2.2.13 to 2.2.15 and we are using global ACL file.
The content of the ACL file is as following:
* owner r
INBOX owner lrwstipekxa
INBOX/* owner lrwstipekxa
user owner rwstipekxa
user/* owner rwstipekxa
This worked fine but after update any user cannot see any folders from under the INBOX, also they cannot create any new folders.

problem with a public folder
Hello,
Thanks, yes the global-acls file is the one I'm refering to and I
created it before all this started.
Yes, the users can both login properly and can access there own inboxes.
Thanks.
Dave.

seting acl for master user?
Hello!
I'm sorry, but i don't really understand it the way it is written in the wiki, so i'm trying my luck here =)
i followed the wiki for creating a master user (the non-sql-version) and i can login as another user via this master user.
my dovecot version is 1.2.9 on an ubuntu server 10.4.3 lts.
what i don't get is the acl-setting, so that the master-user can access all the

Hi,
I've come across a problem that I can't figure out. I'm using Dovecot

I'm using the following sieve script to sort my incoming mail.

ACL to make mailboxes populated by master account Read Only for regular users.
We have a solution using Dovecot as a secondary mail archive. All mailboxes
are populated/groomed by master account and the actual users have only read
access.
This is achieved by a simple ACL approach.
dovecot.conf has
protocol imap { mail_plugins = acl quota imap_quota zlib }
plugin { acl = vfile:/etc/dovecot/acls:cache_secs=300 }
/etc/dovecot/acls/.DEFAULT file is trivial:
user=master

problem with a public folder
Hello,
Thanks for all the replies.
I've added a mailbox to the namespace definition for the public
folders. I can do a doveadm acl get -A "Public/general" works but
"Public/TestFolder" does not. Here's my 90-public.conf file:
#cat 90-public.conf
# Public mailboxes
namespace {
type = public
separator = /
prefix = Public/

ACL group vs. owner question
A hopefully simple question regarding the use of ACLs - the spirit being
of taking away most permissions first and then adding them back selectively:
In the global ACL declaration I have:
> * owner lr
> * group=SYS lrwstipekxa
The owner is put into the SYS group via userdb extra field in static
passwd file ("archiv" is a system user, but pam is disabled for the server):

mistake or error on posting here..
The question (or doubt..) is about sharing mail folder. I use a test mail
server. Is not the production server (always dovecot + postfix +
spamassassin + clamav)
Well.. In test mail server i can use the share folder, follow the conf
istruction on wiki dovecot.

question dovecot Inheritance global acl vs userfolder acl
Hi Timo
my tests resulted in
inheritance is given if a userfolder has set some acl to its new created
subfolder , which is nice
if some userfolder has its acl from global acl
there is no inheritance to its new created subfolders,
that subfolders will always created with full owner rights
i am not really sure if its a good idea
to have inheritance from global acl and
if its hackabel what is your

shared folder name or public folder with mail address
Hello!
we are about to move from cyrus to dovecot and have one open issue
for that migration.
With cyrus we have "shared/" folders with a name that is self defined like
shared/project-xyz
but the email address for direct delivery to that folder my be different
(not project-xyz at domain.com).
With dovecot we try to have it similar (at least how the user sees it in the client)
like it

dsync for subscription on public/shared folder
Hello,
I already wrote regarding that, but maybe it sounded too complex. I will
write it a bit softer now.
The replication through dsnyc works perfectly with one exception. I am
having an issue with the replication of the subscriptions file on shared
folder.
We have a public mailbox defined:
namespace public-test {
location = maildir:/opt/mail/_public/test
prefix = public/test/

I recently wrote a script to check disk space every week and email me an alert if there was less than 5G. Would that be an approach for you? Enclosing below as an example. You'd need to adapt to your own environment.
