Quick outline of my current working setup: I'm running dovecot 1.0.5 as an IMAP mail server on my ubuntu home server, which i connect to with my phone and several other machines to check my mail etc. i use getmail to collect mail from my various pop accounts. getmail filters the mail using spamassassin via a Filter_external, before moving it to my Maildir on the home server. Need help deduplicating messages fetched with getmail into dovecot mailbox
Hello everyone, I'm using getmail to fetch some external mails from POP3 into a dovecot mailbox (providing IMAP). Getmail seems to have some serious problems keeping track of mails already fetched. I have every Mail exactly twice in my Mailbox delivered by Dovecot. Of course they are not in the original external POP3 Inbox. I hope I'm in right place here. I think the problem is not

Need help deduplicating messages fetched with getmail into dovecot mailbox
Hello Joseph, thanks for your reply. > doveadm fetch -u my-mailbox at domain.net 'guid hdr.message-id' ... > > You're on your own for everything else. That works and I may be can make it work with that using a shell-script interacting with getmail as Filter. But indeed it's fetching ALL message-ids. It would be perfect if I could make search query on 'guid

Orphaned processes after doveadm log reopen
I rotate logs every night on my Director, running "doveadm log reopen" I've noticed a problem with processes not closing correctly, they can be open for days and cause corrupt index files because they are connected to different backends (so it writes to the wrong server when the process disconnects) 23518 ? Using deliver from Getmail?
Hello list, a quick question: can I use Dovecot's LDA "deliver" as a destination in Getmail? I.e.: [destination] type = MDA_external path = /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/deliver arguments = ("-d", "username",) Or is deliver not supposed to be called this way? What I'd like to do is use deliver in the same way I would have used procmail ages ago. Getmail

sa-learn with remote Dovecot folders
Thanks for your reply. You got me thinking towards the antispam plugin which I have nto used before, but can you elaborate if my users are system users and the training is done only via a cron entry? Is it safe to manipulate Maildir files directly?
Dovecoters, is it safe to manipulate files in Maildir/xxx directly or will Dovecot become unstable if I don't make these changes by talking to Dovecot and having it make the changes? (I'm running 2.1.7 under Wheezy, IMAP only) My specific application: I am running spamassassin and would like users to be able to submit spam (and ham) directly by moving it into special folders. A cron

zlib, mdbox and spam filtering scripts
Hi all, I am quite happily running a dovecot setup with maildirs. This was once running courier but since the migration I have never ever looked back. Now, with growing userbase I?m looking into using zlib compression and mdbox instead of maildir. This seems to go quite well using dsync on a testbed server. So let?s go production! Before final decision I came across this: - I?m using a spam

How does one mark all messages as read (imap4flag "seen") with sieve?
I don't use the Anti-Spam plugin; I just fire off a BASH script every four hours with crontab which iterates thru the vmail email accounts and trains Spamassassin 'per-user' accounts. If the script sounds interesting I can post it here. It probably could use a little polish though. Bill On 11/9/2016 6:49 PM, Ben Johnson wrote: > On 11/5/2016 1:22 PM, Larry Rosenman wrote:

Trigger getmail via mail-client action?
Hello, I want to use dovecot on my private debian/unstable-system to have the advantages of an IMAP-Server (Access to mails from different computers, Simply changing the mail client). I decided to use dovecot, because I very often have read (in the web) that it should be more simple to configure than other servers. Now I have the following question: I want to use getmail to retrieve mails

Questions/suggestions about new staged installation
Hi, I was playing around with inotifywait (great tool!) to see the new staged installation of source packages in action. In one terminal I'm monitoring the create/delete/move events of the installation library with: ? inotifywait -m --timefmt '%F %T' --format '%T -- %w %e %f' -e create -e delete -e move path/to/R/library/ While in another terminal I install CRAN package

Question about "extracting" unwanted e-mails from mdbox
Imagine the following scenario Last Saturday, 3:00 AM a big phishing attack hits our e-mail inboxes. Spamassassin does not mark them as spam, and our 50.000+ users have in their mdbox a very credible phishing attack. What doveadm-fu could I use to delete (or move to spam) that e-mail from each user INBOX (let?s imagine the Subject or a Header is known)? I repeat: already delivered e-mail, how
