Hello!
My passwd file looks like this:

Problem with different certificates
Hello!
Dovecot manages different domains. Today I renewed the certifiactes from letsencrypt
and since that time, dovecot does not recognized the certs for different domains anymore:
This is part of my config:
ssl = yes
ssl_cert = < /etc/letsencrypt/live/bitcorner.de/fullchain.pem
ssl_key = < /etc/letsencrypt/live/bitcorner.de/privkey.pem

Both domains are hostet on the same server running dovecot and postfix.
This is the script that works:

Problem with permissions of the logfile
Hello!
I want to have dovecot log into a separate file and set
log_path = /var/log/dovecot instead of log_path = syslog
Dovecot does not start if I do this. Tried to change
permissions and overschip of the file, no luck, ha.
Deleted it in the hope dovecot creates it but no.
If I set log_path = syslog dovecot starts and I see
it is running as
# ps aux |grep dove

Running Dovecot 2.0.8 on 32bit Centos5.5. The machine is a VMWare ESX VM.
I'm seeing a lot of warning messages in syslog as follows:

problem with COPY?
hi all,
I've been trying to use dovecot (from cvs 03.mar.2003, linux 2.2.20,
gcc 2.96, openssl 0.9.7a) as an replacement for uw-imap, and it seems
to be doing its job, except for one thing:
I have my mua (sylpheed-claws from cvs) set up so that it will sort
message into certain(imap) directories. so when I check the mail in the
INBOX, new mails will be processed automatically and, for

Domain without certificate
Hello!
I have a new domain integrated into dovecot but no certificate yet.
In dovecot.conf there is ssl = yes and the other domains have
certificates configured.
How do I exclude this new domain from using SSL?
Greetings
Andreas

Telephone systems and Dovecot
Hi folks,
We're looking to integrate our telephone system with our email system.
The telephone system will use IMAP4 to store WAV files in a users
mailbox and then retrieve them for playing if necessary. This is
usually called "unified messaging".
The manufacturers are claiming full integration with Microsoft Exchange
and Lotus Notes using IMAP4 and a single username and

Per-user IMAP enable - is it possible?
Just wonder if it is possible to enable/disable IMAP4 on Dovecot (2.0.x
as far) on per-user basis?
The deal is simple: our policy is not to store a lot of mailing on
mailserver (the user should store it locally), thus the 'use POP3'
approach, but for a vary few users it is permitted to use IMAP4. But
users sometimes simple miss the point that some mail clients (e.g. TB)

Q on configuring shared mboxes
Hello!
I have the following three types of mailboxes on my server:
1) Regular user mail /var/mail/<user> in mbox format
2) Suspected spam in /var/tmp/spamprobe in mbox format
3) Archived mailing list in /home/mks/mksarch in mbox format
I want the 1) to be only accessible to the respective <user>, obviously (POP3
and/or IMAP4).
I wanted the 2) to be accessible to all users --
