Ok Steve, Now its time to edit the status file of the packages. make a backup of : /var/lib/dpkg/status open it with an editor. search for "Package samba" , you probly see" installed ok not-configured. and change status to : Status: install ok installed after the change run : apt-get -f install that should do the trick. Ok Steve, to be sure.. run : apt-key adv --keyserver keys.gnupg.net --recv-key 0x810273C4 if not done yet. add to /etc/apt/source.list.d/openchange.list deb http://inverse.ca/ubuntu trusty trusty or deb http://inverse.ca/ubuntu-nightly trusty trusty to force the needed packages. __COPY_PAST_START cat << EOF >> /etc/apt/preferences.d/preferences-ubuntu-trusty Package: * Pin:

look : winbind depends on samba (= 2:4.1.18+dfsg-3~inverse1); however: >2:4.1.18+dfsg-3~inverse1 so mixed setup of ubuntu with inverse packages of samba. You need to use the inverse packages of samba to keep openchange working. I suggest you set your package pinning. OR ! remove the inverse : winbind version and install the ubuntu version. Aw: Dovecot - Postfix Calender Synchronisation
I still find impediments to the adoption of any of those "solutions". Too many software dependencies, like PHP, DB, python, and a virtual machine. --- There are two portable file formats for calendar and contacts that work across applications and systems, but no server that can use them, and use them safely. "Dumb" proxying?
I'm a database noob, and it really seems like it would be overkill for my setup: I just want to proxy all connections from my DMZ to my internal mail server -- same internal server for all users. I used to use perdition for this set up, but am having issues getting it to play nicely with my new servers. Can I bypass all of the SQL stuff and just have dovecot forward all POP/IMAP

Aw: Dovecot - Postfix Calender Synchronisation
Hello, > Please witch add-on possibilities exist to synchronize the Calednar with > Dovecot and Postfix. > > Can give me here any a possible direction ? Postfix and Dovecot are responsible for mailing. If you want a calendar, you probably want a CalDav server or a Microsoft ActiveSync compatible server. There are various solutions out there, I know of caldav servers and libraries

IMAP/POP3 proxying and capability
Hi, I setup a rather large POP3/IMAP configuration and want to use dovecot proxying feature. I have noted that the capability announce when connecting via the proxies are not the same before you are authenticated and after. Before you are authenticated the proxy announce is own capability and after it announce the final server capability. The problem is that some (most ? all ?) mail client ask

Does Director only work with dovecot proxy?
I was reading "conf.d/10-director.conf" and it mentions Dovecot proxy. I've been using perdition in the past for my pop/imap proxying needs and wasn't sure if Director could also use perdition or if it only works with Dovecots proxying. Thanks!

Proxying, pertinent values and features, SNI
Hello, I'm looking into deploying dovecot as a proxy, currently using perdition. Have been using dovecot on the actual servers for years, nearly a decade. So far just 1.x, but for the proxy it will have to be 2.x (2.1.7 is the current Debian version), as the trigger for this change is the need to support multiple SSL certificates. All that happens on the proxy seems to be handled by the

Eliminate legacy INBOX namespace - how?
Hi all, Our mailstore was converted from a Courier-IMAP system last year, but I am planning a migration to a shiny new VM, and would really like to clean things up and do away with the legacy INBOX namespace. My goal is to simplify IMAP client setup - no special 'INBOX' namespace needed, they just enter the server info and credentials. Also important because I will be rolling out
