No ports 445/139 & smbclient shows NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED
Hi all,
I'm maintaining a small AD system on a computer called "ad" in our small
charity, and it has been working fine for a year or so. However, "ad" is
very rickety so we got a proper server purchased and now I'm trying to
move the AD system over. I've set up the new server called "org-ad"
with Debian 9 and followed the instructions here

Samba4 Auto-start
Hello all,
I'll cut to the chase -- several weeks ago, I thought I had an upstart configuration file that would start Samba4 when the VM was turned on; but it turns out I was wrong. At the time there was nothing on the wiki about it (the links were broken).
The script I thought was working was simply:
start on runlevel [2345]
exec /usr/local/samba/sbin/samba
In any case, looking at the

IPv6-enabled dovecot-1.1rc* does not accept IPv4-connections
Hi,
I'm having a really really strange problem. After upgrading from
1.1.beta13 to 1.1.rc2 (happened with rc1 as well IIRC) I can't connect
to the services using IPv4 anymore. dovecot happily binds to the IPv6
wildcard socket which should accept IPv4 connections as well.

[3.6.6] nmbd reachable on 0.0.0.0: Safe?
Hello
I'm running Samba 3.6.6 on a Linux host on a LAN connected to the Net, with
my ADSL modem acting as firewall/router so as to keep local services like
Samba unaccessible from the Net.
Still, I wanted to check if it's safe to have nmbd reachable from 0.0.0.0 on
UDP137/138:
~# netstat -tunlp

To:
listen-on port 53 { any; };

Understanding why Dovecot unexpectedly died
Hi list!
I use Dovecot 1.2.17 (I can't upgrade right now, due to many reasons),
controlled by Pacemaker (I have an HA-Cluster).
Now I see that Pacemaker restarts often Dovecot. I wrote my own script to
manage Dovecot, since Pacemaker does not have his own.
My script, by the "monitor" section has this:

Turn off IMAPS?
Hi
I've upgraded to 2.1.7 and finally decided to turn off imaps and pop3s
because these days everyone uses tls over 143 anyway. But it's on and
I can't figure out why.
I only have non-ssl versions specified:
protocols = imap pop3
I've stopped and started and the ports are still open and netstat says
dovecot is listening on them..
mail:~# netstat -tulnp | grep dove

smbd and login scripts
Hello
I've two strange problems:
- smbd
I've attached you my smb.conf, inetd.conf and my log file. Sometimes smbd and
nmbd run and somtimes only nmbd run (I check it with ps -ax). But I have
access over my shares (I test it with my Win95 machine). Also in my log
file there're some error messages (I don't now from where the came).
- login scripts
My scripts won't run but if

Failed to join domain: failed to find DC for domain...
Did you turn off the Firewall ?
- I did turn it off on both.
It looks like something is getting in the way, either that or something
is set up incorrectly.
I know you said that you are using Debian, but what version and what
version of Samba ?
- Debian 12. Samba = 4.17.10-Debian
Are you using Bind9 on the DC or the internal dns server ?
- I am using internal dns server but I did install bind9

I noticed a problem when cold-starting a Debian host: smbd doesn't listen on

Winbind problems
Hi,
I have a problem in my Samba 4 file server.
I tried to change a directory's permission, but domain groups are not
recognized:
chown root:"Domain Admins" /home/Empresa
chown: invalid group: ?root:Domain Admins?
When I run "getent passwd" command, only local user are listed.
wbinfo commands (wbinfo -g, wbinfo -u, wbinfo -a <user>) are working
properly.

You can if you want to, but I feel that your problem may have nothing to
do with Samba.
Your first problem is your
