Version controlled (git) Maildir generated by Dovecot
Hi Everybody,
I'd like to start archiving e-mails by moving them to a server with running Dovecot.
I installed "dovecot-core" and "dovecot-imapd" (version 2.3.4.1) on Debian 10.
One of a few configurations I made is to use Maildir:
# grep '^mail_location = ' /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-mail.conf
mail_location = maildir:~/Maildir
I successfully moved some e-mails (at

A question regarding doveadm replicator status
Hello,
I am using Dovecot version 2.2.10. I am quite familiar with ssh replication
and I managed to set it up correctly. The only problem I see is that when i
run the command:
doveadm replicator status I get a wrong "Total number of known users" which
is
a) is different between the two (2) replicated dovecot servers, i.e. in
mail1 I get a total of 21 users and in mail2 I get a total of

Two server certificates for two common names
Hi there!
I have two DNS records
mail1.domain.tld
mail2.domain.tld
I have issued SSL server Certificates for both my domain names.
Is it possible to tell dovecot to use both , depending on
client access;
clients using the mail1.domain.tld be served by the mail1.domain.tld
.key and .cert
and those using mail2.domain.tld be served by the mail2.domain.tld .key
and .cert
Thanks in advance

Replication issues master <-> master nfs backend
I keep having some replication issues and not sure what can be done to resolve or correct. It
does not seem to happen all the time, though for the last ~30 or so minutes and many
messages seems to be happening consistent for me.
I have 2 mail servers, basically clones, and thus master master replication. Most of the time
things work fine. But many times an email or several will arrive on one,

Variable expansion in LDA vs POP/IMAP
Hello all,
I'm trying to understand when exactly the variable substitution
happens in Dovecot, as I get different results in the LDA and in the POP/IMAP
server.
Here's my general setup:
- Postfix MTA, delivers mail via Dovecot LDA
- users list sits in a database
- mail directory is stored in the database, but with
Dovecot variables inside
Delivery works perfectly fine,

Permissions errors while reading messages via IMAP
Greetings all,
I have been trying to setup a new system using Postfix and Dovecot to manage email for a bunch of virtual domains. So far everything is great, and I am now at the point where I am trying to build a webmail interface for the system. I'm using RoundCube for now.
The tutorial I have been working from is here:

dovecot.index.pvt reset
All,
maybe that's a similar issue like the one mentioned in [1],
nevertheless I started a new thread.
Using public folders:
location =
maildir:/var/vmail/public/:LAYOUT=fs:INDEXPVT=%h/.public-indexes
When deleting a public maildir in filesystem (rm -rf ...) and copying
back from backup, it's older than the users' dovecot.index.pvt files.
(%h is in another directory). Then the

doveadm proxy list repeats header line
Hi all,
just a minor thing: Why does `doveadm proxy list` repeat the header line
after each entry? Too me, that just makes the output harder to read.
So instead of this:
root at mail1 ~ # doveadm proxy list
username proto src ip dest ip port
info at domain1.de imap 80.152.196.98 222.133.127.53 993
