Yup, I'd looked at those, but still left not understanding all of the options. And you gave a doveadm command, which I appreciate very much, but surprises me since the materials in the ACL wiki page are

Shared inbox?
Chris,
I do indeed have an acl_shared_dict set up. That may be the ticket. That makes it so that the IMAP server knows that you have acls on the other mailbox, so it can know to then look in that mailbox to find out precisely what the ACLs are.
Cheers,
Andy

Permission Denied - cannot create inbox
I cant figure out permissions with Dovecot. I am new with this program and
have tried setting the mail group to "mail" which is the group of my
mailboxes which are located in /var/spool/mail.
Here's the error I get.

shared boxes
Hi there,
is it possible in any way to have private seen flags for users in a shared mailbox?
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/SharedMailboxes/Shared says no, but i'm not sure, if newer mailbox formats
can do this... like mdbox oder something like that.
thanks for your help

mdbox and shared \Seen flag
Hi,
I've just switched mail storage from maildir to mdbox and found it's very
amazing.
The only question I've is related to shared mailboxes. In the past I've
had a few mailboxes that were shared between two users by just symlinking
maildir. So everything was shared including flags and \Seen status. Now I
want to get something like this.
As far as I understand,

Postfix/Dovecot permissions for new mailboxes
Hello,
the wiki page describe that permission should copied from root mail
directory
https://wiki2.dovecot.org/SharedMailboxes/Permissions
The permissions for the root mail directory are set to 2770:
drwxrws--- 36 root mail 4096 Apr 15 02:30 /var/spool/mail/
But newly created mailboxes get following permissions:
drwx--S--- 5 newuser mail 4096 Apr 23 19:31 /var/spool/mail/newuser/

A common, read-only IMAP INBOX for all accounts
Hi,
since I had no luck finding people available on IRC, I hope someone here
can provide
me with some answers to, hopefully, 2 simple questions (and have the
solution recorded
in the archives for everyone with the same need).
A little background, as the subject says it - I want to have a single INBOX
shared
among all the accounts on my system, where only one account would have
writing rights,

Shared mailboxes and acl
Hello, I've finally upgrade to dovecot 2.0.12 and I'm doing some test
with shared mailboxes and acl.
I've read http://wiki2.dovecot.org/SharedMailboxes/Shared and changed
the dovecot config as recommended, I'm using Horde/IMP as imap_acl client
Seems that the acl files in user mailbox where updated correctly.
I've defined also a shared mailbox dictionary and if I've

Dovecot + SpamAssassin through dovecot-antispam
Hello,
I am new to the list. /Waving at everyone/
I got a basic SpamAssassin working on a Debian setup (w/ debian-spamd
user), running as a Postfix transport.
I am currently trying to switch it to a dovecot plugin in order to make
it interactively work with the email storage (react to mail
classification, being able to train it from already received emails, aso.)
My problem is now making it

subfolders in public mailboxes
Hello,
I added this to the configuration:
namespace {
type = public
separator = .
prefix = public.
location = maildir:/var/mail/public
subscriptions = no
list = yes
}
and I can list maildirs inside these folders correctly. however, I can't
see any subfolders.
The issue seems to be that /var/mail/public dir itself is interpreted as
a maildir directory.
However, what I'd

folders not visible on copied mail folders
We had a user quit recently. Three days ago I copied his entire Maildir folder to another user
to that user's Maildir/.JoesEmail. I changed ownership and made the permission 'chmod -R
og-rwx .', just like all the other files/directories of the new owner. This didn't work to show
the new folder. Today, in his Thunderbird client, I subscribed to the 'JoesEmail' folder. I

Configuring Shared Mailbox Dictionaries
Hello, list!
I am in the midst of configuring a new Dovecot IMAP server, and I'm
preparing to setup shard mailboxes as part of the ocnfiguration. In
order to get these setup the way I want, I've figured out that I'm going
to have to setup an acl_shared_dict. This is where things start to get
confusing for me, as I have had difficulty finding thorough explanations
